If I'm not mistaken are not all B&M's built over the past few years a little faster on the lift. I know Led Zep...err Time Machine and Griffon are quite a bit faster than anything previous to 2005ish'. I imagine the only reason for this is to increase capacity/ridership.

On that note, as a cost saving technique for parks, most new B&M's also have much steeper lift hills than some of its previous designs.

Just an observation....

Yeah the angle of the lifts has changed over the years. Could you imagine how long the lift would be for a 230' hyper if it had the angle that the vortex has. The Time Machine at HRP (whatever it is) is pretty steep and quick like you said. I dont think its a bad idea to have LIM's on the lifts like Maverick has at CP. This would increase rider ship by quite a few. Anyways, I'm just happy were getting a new coaster no matter the hieght, length, theme or anything!!!

Well if I was able to choose, I'd rather not have a launch for this ride. There is something about going s-l-o-w-l-y up that lift hill, 200 feet or more.... looking around at the view.... feeling the anticipation build.... and saying to yourself 'damn, I hope I don't pee in my pants....'

Aw hell, I was just kinda exaggerating for dramatic effect. The two B&M hypers I have been on are Nitro and Goliath, neither of which takes very long at all to get to the top (are they slower than Diamondback?)...but--there is just something about that time in between starting up the hill and getting to the top that builds anticipation...I like launches too (actually, the only one I have been on is Kingda Ka, so I'm no expert on that and I really know next to nothing about the various mechanisms, but that one really packs a wallop! --when it's working, that is  ), and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt Carowinds in the least to get a launched coaster (does Cobra count?), but the climb up a tall steep hill really enhances the hyper coaster experience for me. I know I am getting off topic, but I just have to say that the lift hill on El Toro is hilariously fast. It makes me giggle every time because it just doesn't seem right it could get to the top so quickly (in comparison to other wooden coasters). ok, sorry for the diversion.

Ok...now time for some detective work...the Whytelightning website that is on the Cedar Point sponsors site has no connection to any known drink company currently in the United States...it also has an emblem on the bottle that is exactly the shadow of Millennium Force's emblem as it has been said...The drink refers to itself being produced in West Virginia...Doswell, VA is in Virginia but not close enough to West Virginia to be some type of quasi clue about the Giga in Doswell. However, this is only the second (according to the Intamin Wiki) Giga that Intamin has designed and the upside down Millennium Force logo could be a connection to that fact. I do believe that the logo on that website gives a indication of what the name of the King's Dominion Giga is going to be called and is on the Cedar Point website because in a sense this is the "little brother" (in terms of age and nothing more) of Millennium Force. However, with that being said, I believe that we can leave behind the ideas of the Whytelightning site being for anything at Carowinds because we are not getting an Intamin giga. It is a wonderful site for the people at Cedar Point to discuss and even for Kings Dominion but I do not believe that it points to anything at Carowinds other than stating a possibility that we will have similar named attractions.

^It makes it really hard to live in denial when you keep presenting evidence that this will be NASCAR themed. :?

Got back from the park a while ago - there is indeed new track. I decided to cover my bases and politely ask a security guard in the parking lot if I was allowed to go photograph. He politely said absolutely not, and wished me a good day. So no track pics guys. Besides, I didn't want to trip over a "beem" sending me into an "invertion" where I might "brake" something.

So I went to Carowinds and all I got was this lousy shot:
Image

RctWeekly, there "are" now 15 pieces of track. Counted them on the way up TR. And a flatbed of flat pieces was being unloaded as I left.

I'll post the usual junk later. Nothing major. Must go spend time with Mrs. Wormy now.

I went today too but when I counted the track pieces i only got 14. I bet you're right though, I probably missed one. After all, I wasn't wearing my glasses

And no, I don't have any pictures, sorry. :(

The track seems to be a lighter red then Vortex anybody agree?

and about the whitelightning.carowinds.com issue I have noticed that before the Under Construction photo comes up there is a Grey background similar to the Grey background on the Record Breaking History Making Logo!

In the picture posted, I see two to four track pieces that are for (presumably) the turn into the station from the brakerun, unless there have the brakerun and station lined up, then they will before the turn to the lift hill. Also, there is a track piece (forth from the right) that looks to be the 'connection' from the last ascent to the brake run. If this is like Diamondback, all but maybe one piece of brakerun track is there, if all of those are indeed for the brake run. There will be a few more curve pieces, though.

That track almost looks...orange.

We still might see a reverse of White Lightnin', with white trains on reddish-orange track. And for the love of all that is holy, if they do use some variation of that name, they better bring back the "Lightning strikes.....NOW!" bit that the ride ops used on the original. Sure it'd work best for a launched coaster, but it will still be great to hear that again even if it's just as they dispatch the train out to the chain lift.

^Hmm... That got me thinking. Couldn't they put a stop at the top of the hill, and release the train down the hill? Kind of like a pseudo-launch? Then they could have a speaker up there with that recording...

The dream bashing begins... NOW.
