So is goliath at la ronde, Hollywood Dream: The Ride at universal japan, Apollo's Chariot at bgw arent hyper coasters by that design...

Ugh... You technical people amaze me to no end.

My classification of coasters varies, as does everyone elses. Here's my thoughts on the matter.

- Mini Hypercoaster: A non inverting, steel coaster below 200' in height/drop, regardless of manufacturer.
- Hypercoaster: A non inverting, steel coaster between 200' & 299' in height/drop, regardless of manufacturer.
- Gigacoaster: A non inverting, steel coaster between 300' & 399' in height/drop, regardless of manufacturer.
- Stratacoaster: A non inverting, steel coaster between 400' & 499' in height/drop, regardless of manufacturer.

Of course when you start throwing inversions into a track over 200' then it just gets all retarded and such. I mean, does "hyper looper" even sound fun? I'd just call it a really tall coaster with inversions. See... nothing makes sense in this day and age of highest, loopiest, fastest, etc. coaster lingo. Hell, I don't consider any wooden coasters hypers, regardless of whether or not they fall into that category, but that's just me. Your opinions may vary. :)

I lived most of my life down the road from the Earnhardt business (actually it was Childress stuff, but whatever) in Welcome, NC. This doesn't bother me yet because it's not like KD and Carowinds has never shared a name before (cough Hurler cough).

That said, I'd prefer Richard Petty. :p The King Coaster?

And not many people gives a rat's behind who was born in NC or Nascar can sell their rights to anyone. I am sure if a park in RUssia would like a Nascar Theme and the money was right then they could have one. Get over it will you. Enjoy the new Ride and back to topic.

Just because it's themed to Earnhardt does NOT mean it will be NASCAR-themed (which it won't).

Actually it does seeing how Earnhardt was a NASCAR driver.

That makes absolutely no sense. Did you read that before you hit the post button?

It makes sense. Dale Earnhardt and Nascar are two separate things. Carowinds may get permission from the Earnhardt family to use "Intimidator" and that color scheme (white/silver, red, black, etc) and the #3. But, that does not mean CarW can use any type of reference to Nascar.

See. Nothing to do with each other.

How do you know it won't be Nascar Themed? We don't know anything until 9 days...

The name of the ride is going to be White Lightning not Intimidator. Maybe people will get that through their heads one day. If the ride is themed to Earnhardt, it might not be themed directly to NASCAR but people will still think of it and talk about it. People are going to connect Earnhardt with NASCAR like they do with Tiger Woods to the PGA.

^^ That still doesn't make sense to me. Although the branding may not be tied, any reference made to Dale with our coaster will automatically lead people to believe it's a NASCAR-themed coaster. It doesn't matter if they put the logo on it or not. Besides that, I don't see Cedar Fair shelling out cash to DEI just for his name, number, and colors. If it is even minimally NASCAR themed, the park might get some financial support from NASCAR and it's sponsers.

It would be like a Vin Diesel attraction, with no ties to any of his movies.

Oh, and I really hope the ride has nothing to do with NASCAR or it's drivers.
