Another reason that the trains are not stored on the track is so the wheels won't rest on the track. If you look at the shed for Vortex as well as Afterburn. While the train is in the shed it does not actually rest on the wheels that roll on the track. This keeps the wheels from getting an indent on them.
Here is the vortex shed:

I could not find a picture of the afterburn shed. I will have to go take one to illustrate the point.

Of all pictures you picked you couldnt have picked a better one. Man, the photographer who took that picture must be a professional or some sort...

That's a good picture to illustrate your point, they rest on little wheels on the train and then also the kicker tires sitting on the train shed.

and they keep balance by resting the side of the trains on the metal runners...

I've been wondering... With all this talk about kings dominions new coaster being the most costly addition to their park ever... Why hasn't carowinds been saying the same thing? Surely if this is a b&m hyper then it has To be the most expensive purchase for the park. The only thing I can think of that might come close is afterburn.

I thought I read somwhere where it did read the largest investement in the park history, or it just might not be. Overall carowinds has been promoting this new ride 10 fold more than pkd...
