General Carowinds discussion

Wow they are moving fast, based on the times listed on the still shots of the web cam, it was about 2 hours from when they brought the first section over to when they had the second peice installed. This is getting exciting and a lot sooner than anyone expected, can't wait till 2010! :D

I'm guessing most of you weren't around when the Cobra got built. They can erect the coaster pretty quick. I still think the engineering that goes into these things is amazing. Precision placement of the footers and everything still lines up perfectly. Guess that's why they get paid the big bucks.

Has anyone been to the park recently over the weekends and got any more track updates photos and what not? Cause at this rate they are gonna burn through those 17 peices ( correct me if i am wrong on the number) by the end of the week. Better get some more sent down from Ohio.

I don't expect them to keep up this fast pace. They did this with Diamondback and it then seemed that things stopped for a long time while they worked on the station/transfer area. Of course I think with Diamondback, they were building the station while still setting footers, which might not be the case with this coaster. Carowinds seems to be about done with the footer work. I guess King Island took more time to set footers because of the rugged terrain. I wonder if they use separate crews to erect the track and do the meticulous work related to the stations?

in this rendering there is a pathway on the right side of the picture. What do you think this could go to? Nick--er--snoopy central??

That is the main path right in front of where the log flume was (now intimidator of course) and where rocket power air time is... Looks like the entrance to the "winner circle area" is where the entrance to the log flume started?

I have to say danni (or whoever manages the facebook site) is doing a good job but I wonder, why no updated pictures for the actual website? I have said it once and I will say it again, not everyone has facebook. But I will hold my reservations and see if the pictures on the site update by the end of the week.

Oh yeah, also what about showing the blog some love...

Yea they are doing a great job. I dont have the facebook either, usually it wont even allow me to view pictures, but luckily it does for the carowinds page. I do with they would update the intimidator construction site as well...

Oh yeah I see it now... I feel stupid. :]
2 things to point out in that picture that I just noticed. Where is rocket power? and also there is no storage shed, just a brake run. Of course, the picture probably isn't 100% correct, but I thought that was pretty weird that the left those out

They just left them out. Same goes with Afterburn on the POV video. Train storage supports are going in now.
