Well, I'd say a week or two to get an entire piece done. In those two weeks, they could probably get maybe 20 completely done. If there are 120 pieces, that is 12 weeks to get all of the painting done. That is quite a bit of time considering half the coaster should be up within three months.
I wanna make sure that I, and those that are reading, understand. You are saying it will take an entire week or 2 to paint one, say 20ft long piece of track...then you say they could get 20 pieces done in 2 weeks...averaging out more than 1 piece a day...
So how can you say it will take a week or 2 to paint once piece of track but then say it can take a less than a day to paint the same said track piece...
Is anyone else as confused as me?
First off, I said 20 because I didn't want to get yelled at for saying too few. Let me try to explain this differently.
Let's say that to get all of the coats of paint on a piece of track, it takes a total of just one week because of the drying period between coats and the actually taking time to paint. They would paint one day, let it dry the next, paint it, let it dry, and then paint and let it dry one final time, but for two days. That is 7 days, or one week. Also, we'll say they could work on 10 pieces in one day (they could have 2 painting areas, and work on one piece every hour and a half, thus getting five pieces worked on in each area, and a total of 10 pieces in a day). But, while those pieces are drying every other day, there are 10 other pieces that get worked on during that day. So, they could be working on 20 different pieces during the week. That would allow them to paint 20 pieces of track in a little over a week.
In my opinion, I have overestimated the number of pieces that can be done at one time, and I think it takes closer to two weeks to get all of the coats of paint done. But, I said it only takes a week and 20 pieces just so it would be easier to understand. Also, it just helps prove my point that it takes a long time to get all of the track for a coaster painted.
I hope this makes more sense. In short terms, thay can paint more than one piece of track at once, so even if they get say even 10 pieces done in a week, it still takes more than a day to get an entire piece done.
Does this help you understand a little better?
