To the disgust of my child, I am no fan of water rides--not talking "water park" here, I pretty much totally hate those--just water rides in general-- (no matter how hard I try, I simply can't figure out the whole walking around with a wet as% bit--please note, I am also not into walking around in a bathing suit (!)...I mean, what is the preferred procedure? do you do ride them at the beginning so you "have a chance to dry off"? pay for a walk-in dryer thingy? ride them at the end so you don't have to walk around miserably for very long? bring a change of clothes and pay for a locker? can you manage to stuff everyone's clothes into a small locker? are you supposed to bring extra shoes too? I know! I'll spend $200 and get an outfit made of quick-dry "technical" fabrics!)....but "Shoot the Rapids" is at least more interesting than most of its genre. I know they are good rides for families...well, actually, they are good for KIDS, not necessarily parents...

Actually, the only water ride in recent memory that I have enjoyed at all is the Popeye river raft thing at IOA. (And, unfortunately, I have been on every river raft ride in every theme park that I have visited that has one  ) 1.) they have a covered thing in the middle of the raft to keep belongings dry, 2.) the loading platform is moving so the loading and unloading is faster, and 3.) it's got better "rapids" and "waterfalls" than most of those things, and lots of theming that keeps it vaguely interesting. Vaguely.

P.S. Edited to say- I am a little annoyed by the "hillbilly" banjo music--that should be OURS!! or maybe Kings Dominion...but Ohio? Maybe I'm missing something. Did they do the hillbilly/moonshine thing up there? I'm not researching it. :?

Cool enough to see a major park laying off the giant rides and doing a flume again. About the layout though - don't understand why they made the 1st lift the big one, and the 2nd one shorter. It seems anticlimactic. The finale would be better if the 2nd was the big one.

Safety Restraint - Individual over-the-head lap bars with hand grips

EDIT: Never mind about the OTSRs comment. Read another site and it turns out they are literally lap bars that open and shut from overhead instead of in front of your seat. I assumed the park's stats page meant horse collars.

Lily, I don't ride the water rides as much now as I used too. If my kids were tall enough that we could all ride together, then maybe I would. What I have done in the past is just wear quick drying clothes. Not a thick cotton Tshirt and jeans like I have seen some people wear on those things(ugh, the thought). A nice pair of Umbro's come in handy, or something similar. You'll be dry within an hour or so on a hot day.
What's funny I saw on another board the enthusiast's were complaining about the ride, and said that the water rides were the one's with the shortest lines in the park......OK, maybe a Cedar Point that is true, but in the South water rides stay pretty busy, ala the 1.5hr wait on RRR at Carowinds usually.
Dukies- From the stats page:

Boat Statistics
Number of Boats 10 fiberglass boats
Riders Per Boat 10
Safety Restraint Individual over-the-head lap bars with hand grips
Seating Individual seats; five rows of two per boat

Where is people getting the OTSR from? I saw others mention this elsewhere. They aren't in the video either. ???

Carowinds 2012???

I guess its not common for a park to build a "typical" flume but I think it would be cool to combine elements like on a splash battle throughout the layout.

Log ride meets coaster??? Alright until I see you get soaked just to get soaked. One of the things I hated about the Carowinds ride. Rode it late at night during a First Union only night.....cold and wet the rest of the night. Had never rode before and did not know they just poured water on you for the heck of it. I'll pass....
