General Carowinds discussion

They are attaching the lift track to the crane, it will go up very soon...

EDIT: My bad, seem like they just added catwalk to that lift hill piece on the ground, but seem to me they still will put it up today.

I'm sorry but I'm like a little kid in the candy store. Wormy, God bless you, I can't wait for your photo of the lift hill piece sticking in the air clearing the tree tops. I'm so excited and we have so much more height to clear. Paramount did this to me. They killed my self worth, had me thinking that our park would never rise much above 100 feet. "If my friends could see me now!" Sorry that was a throwback tune from the 70's.

Here we go again blaming paramount. Yes its paramounts fault a hyper is just coming to the park...its paramounts fault the prev owners never built a coaster over 100ft until they brought the park. Its paramount fault b&m won't make a launch coaster, its parmounts fault kittens die...

Why is paramount being mention in the first place. Its not that paramount said "we refuse to give carowinds a hyper...". A lot of things the park didn't get under paramount, are we gonna praise cedar fair and blame paramount if the park gets an intamin launch coaster? A behometh bowl or hydro coaster? A sky swing?

Back on topic I am excited about the coaster but really dislike it when people use it as a chance to take a swipe at paramount like they severly ran the park into the ground and on the brink of bankrupcy.
Ok, really back on topic lol. I somehow see the lift being done waaaay befor the predicted time that bart said...they are working all over this site, from the station to the footers to the supports...all over the site! March can't come soon enough!

Now I wonder, is this gonna be a roaring track beemer or one of the quiet ones like dueling dragons...also I wonder I'd theming elements like racing lights or audio going up the lift, ya know like paramount did with the jet sounds on top burn. It would be cool to hear crowd cheering as you end your ride ans making that final turn into the station...

^I have been wondering about the 'roar' for a while myself. On the one hand we have Afterburn which is likely one of the loudest B&M's ever, and Vortex which is pretty loud for its size. On the other if it does have a roar, the south gate area is going to be deafening at all hours with Afterburn's batwing, and Intimidators hammerhead. Also the coaster borders the kids area on 2 sides, which would be another vote to not have a roar.

Another thing to think about is that there will be screaming from the riders all throughout the ride, which carries a lot more than the roar does for some reason. I like the roar very much, but I think if Intimidator has one it might just be a bit too much.

My non-expert opinion, I think it will be quieted some, but not completely silenced. Obviously the track has already been fabricated so this isn't a issue up for debate. Perhaps Dani can get the facts straight?

About the roar. If the track isn't filled, it may still not have the signiture B&M roar in April and May. Diamondback didn't start to be really heard until August, because they changed the whells, and the coaster has a 'break in' period. So, if there isn't much a roar at first, don't be surprised if one comes out. Also, I think a roar would be fitting seeing how loud race cars are, and the low pitched sound their engines make. It fits perfectly with the sound of a B&M coaster.

I can only think of two B&M's that have had their rails "Sand-filled" and that would be Hydra and Talon at Dorney Park, after they addressed neighbors concerns. I'm thinking that they won't for this one.

To reply to the "Paramount Blame"... There were years when they spent money very conservatively, but to think didn't care about the parks isn't true at all, they just took a different route in the thrill rides department. (personally, I didn't care for many of their decisions, but that again, is just my opinion.)

Left up to Paramount you would not have to wonder, all you will have is the squeal of a rusting boat dropping down into a tub of murky water. :D

Speaking of the boat! Yes, that is Paramount's fault. Paramount wouldn't give Carowinds the money to fix the boat, so Paramount had it torn down. It is also the fault of the people who lifted the boat up, and damaged the hull, whoever they are, they apparently didn't know what they were doing....I would much rather have the boat ride than Nighthawk any day, it isn't worth wait.
