Funny you folks mention another crane. I was exiting off of I-485 friday afternoon and noticed a Crane Base ahead of me as I was taking the Tryon Street Exit. It turned to the left and was heading away from the city. I did not really think that much of it till now when I saw Wormy's Pics. I guess it could have went down the road at took Carowinds BLVD and headed to the park. Like I said I really did not think that much of it for it was Friday Afternoon and I was trying t o finish what I had to do and head home.

Wow it was cool to see the first full section of the lift go up today, looks totally different than it did yesterday. I will post some pictures I took yesterday later on.

Yes, they built that big huge crane just to replace it less than a week later with a different one. :| If you look at the update pics for KD's coaster that were put up on their twitter account earlier today, you will see one of their cranes is bent over also. Not sure why they do it. Might be for maintenance or safety.

I was gonna call it Niles Crane. (guilty of a few really bad thoughts about the bent over crane.)

It is probably the way they dissemble them. I am guessing that they (of course) remove the cables , take the top of , the part that is bent over , then of course take the base off.

Possibly, but I doubt they paid all of that money to construct a crane of that size just to have it up for a week. Trust me, that crane isn't going anywhere. There will be at least three large cranes in the air by the end of this week. Also, that crane and the other one were bent over some last week after being completed so this isn't the first time.

Silly coaster enthusiast, I thought y'all knew something about crane husbandry, you know everything else! The reason one crane is bent over and the other is erect is because of a natural instinctive mechanism for protection; hence they sleep in shifts. One crane has to watch over the newly arrived crane because it is in a weakened state and is vulnerable to predators since it is not fully developed and can't defend itself. Duh! Why y'all talking about birds anyway, I thought this was a coaster site.
