General Carowinds discussion

I've been on three of the Beemer hypers and all had trims I believe, but I didn't feel it ruined the ride a la Mean Streak.

And to throw more fuel to the fire, when I was riding Thunder Road the other day and looking at track over there it did appear one of the pieces had some sort of brake section or bracket or whatever. I'm no expert, so just take that with a grain of salt.

I don't recall any trims on Thunder Road, but I do recall an anti-rollback on the going up the turnaround, which I have heard has a chain on it in case of rollbacks.

Best bet is to ride it on media day or opening day... Those are the two times that it's likely the trims (if any) won't be on.

Then comes the fear of trim brakes being placed on the ride that is not even built and watching each piece of track that goes up to look for the brackets fearing the worst is coming to ruin this ride. Now someone is saying something about not seeing those large cranes ever again at Carowinds again.

Maybe it is just me but what is wrong with this? Still can not wrap my head around the doom and gloom sky is falling thing that I see on here about this great looking ride that is being built to ride. I just do not get it.

I don't know of anyone that isn't ecstatic over this ride..I don't like trims on hyper coasters, but I'm not fearful of trims.. with or without them, this is going to be a wonderful coaster. I mentioned being sad we would never see the huge cranes again because this is such a monumental step for a regional park of Carowind's stature.. this kind of thing doesn't happen often here and I will miss the experience of witnessing the construction of America's tallest B&M...won't we all??

Doom and gloom..sky is falling??? are you kidding me?

Why would I kid you Foggy? I guess I am looking at it from a diffrent view now then what I use to look at it. Seems Doom and Gloom is the new fad here they last few years. Guess doom and gloom is the new norm on here that I have gotten use to.

But no Cranes mean well the ride is done and in my eyes that is a great thing. Just enjoy the view amd hang on.

I think of it as hoping for the most potential from this ride... I guess that is the last mystery of 2010.

You can't please all the people all the time, and it seems no matter the coaster, there will be disagreement. I don't think anyone in NC has reason to complain about this ride that so completely supersedes everything before it.

I guess that's true. It just seems like it wouldn't make any sense to build all of the track in the front so that they had to lift everything over it, but I guess it's not that much of an inconvenience.

On another note, this may be one of the easiest coasters to build ever for one of such a large size. With most of the ride on flat land right up against the parking lot where equipment and track comes in, it's pretty much a dream scenario.
