General Carowinds discussion

Any guess as to whether or not the ground and surrounding areas of Intimidator will have grass showing by Opening Day? It doesn't seem likely...

never seen more than two trains at one time.

Ideally you would see one train on the course, one train on the lift, and one train in the station. This may not be the case for Carowinds as I can see them easily stacking 2 trains due to the proximity of the "mid"-course to the final brake. I would imagine that here when they are using 3 trains, we can look forward to seeing one on the lift, one on the final brakes and one in the station. And depending on how fast the dispatch and the readiness of the general public we could see all 3 trains stacked...

Stacking may happen during first weeks of operations, but once the ops get hang of it, they can send the train out of the station as soon as it is full. For example, when Jet Coaster and I went to Canada's Wonderland, Behemoth has never been stacked, but did for quite a few times but all are to blame to riders themselves. In fact, from Behemoth, they dispatched the second train when first train was in the turnaround. Third train probably waited for few seconds or nothing at all as it arrived to final brakes when second train dispatched already. So I can see it happening for Intimidator too.

Hopefully they will be able to train the staff before opening to help with dispatching in a timely manner. I am sure they will used some of the more experienced ride ops. I am just glad they have plenty of time to do test runs to help prevent breakdowns etc. I know when borg opened there were a lot of problems, I dont remember how long they had to test it before the park opened either...

Nevertheless I think that intimidator will move quickly and smoothly.

I would love to see a rule made to curb all the stuff people carry. The trains are much slower due to the riders having to go thru to put their stuff on shelves, near exit, etc than due to the staff. They can't do their jobs till everyone is seated. Do everyone a favor, don't carry stuff around slowing up lines. Put it in the car, locker, or just don't win the basketball till late in the day. If it's done like Borghawk, where they have lockers and tell you to leave your stuff there, the ride will run much smoother. Since they have a much bigger pool to hire from, operations went much smoother last year.

^ please!!!!

Guests with all of their stuff was the single only thing that slowed us down at Afterburn last year. If you were ever to come on a busy day you would have noticed that aside from guests slowing us down with their stuff, our crew at Afterburn last year would haul.

The ONLY thing that slowed us down was articles and flip flops.

If Carowinds would offer the "Free for ?? minutes" lockers like IOA does then guest might be more prone to using them. I, for one, refuse to pay $1 at a locker to store sunglasses in.

I would definitey agree with above statements about "articles". It would be much better if Carowinds (and some others) used the similar policy that Universal, Busch Gardens and Sea World use with those items. They usually won't let you enter the que if it doesn't fit in your pocket. Then again, they do have lockers at or near every major attraction to use. I think it would be a good ivestment in the long run for Carowinds to put more lockers in around the park.

I personally never understood why people will carry around large bags, stuffed toys, etc. all day long through the park. I absolutely hate carying anything around a theme park that wont fit in my pockets, as it becomes a burden when it's time to ride something. I guess I just like freedom of motion...lol

Anwyays, back on topic....can't wait to come ride Intimidator and see the rest of the changes to the park. Everything looks great so far.
