For me it's convenience. Living 9 hours away I can't just pop in and get it processed so it would be nice if it could happened during the week as well. I'll be up there for media day, but can't get my pass processed.

I believe it's so they don't have to wait in line to process their pass before entering the park. They no longer allow you entry into the park before it's processed. Unlike before when you could just enter go to the processing center later in the day if it was busy.

WHAT they changed it. Last year we walked in with our stubs rode the Cobra and then we processed them.

This was announced MONTHS ago. There is gonna be ALOT of pissed off people on opening day because they don't know about the change. I hate I can't make it till later, this is gonna be Jerry Springer good. LOL

Yes I can see a lot of upset people who will have their face cracked...lol Many other parks do this as well (like SFOG). I think they should upgrade to the system that Universal and Busch Gardens/Sea World Parks use where you don't have to have your pic taken and card processed like you are at the DMV. They use kiosks that print the card out and a biometric fingerprint to indentify you as the pass holder when you enter the parks.

I think the new system will work just fine once people get used to it. (We are way off topic....lol)

I wish I could be there opening day. :(

They could easily solve the potentially high amount of very irritated people (myself included) that arrive on opening day, who couldn't come to the early processing dates, if they would just open up the pass processing an hour or 2 before the gates open on March 27. Problem solved, but Carowinds so far has not announced anything of this sort.

Otherwise we get to ride the exciting "pass processing" ride before Intimidator!

Given that pass processing at Carowinds was several orders of magnitude faster than SFOG in my experiences, I'm not expecting any major problems. On opening day they tend to have a lot of people working the pass processing and move people through rather quickly. And they usually had the pass processing open as soon as people were being let into the park to wait for the rope drop, so I'd be highly surprised if they don't have pass processing open an hour or more before the park actually opens, especially on opening day.

Of course I'll be getting mine done early so all I have to worry about on the 27th is how fast the Shoney's / Cracker Barrel / IHOP staff is that morning...

So they are testing all 3 trains again this morning.

I'm thinking they are gonna have some stacking issues again. The way things are playing out this morning, it appears that they are sending one train out as soon on the one of the lift is over. This is resulting in about a 25 - 30 second dispatch window and this is without general public... Unless they have someone guarding the entrance preventing folks from getting on with carry on items I can't see them dispatching a train every 25 seconds. I mean, that's less than one second per rider per train to get everyone seated, secured, checked, and dispatched.

At least they've got a goal to hit with this thing. Should be fun watching the team run around to dispatch asap!

I'm figuring they will use the "slow lift" lift hill and the really slow final brake run as a way of buying some time.
#38204
If you have to wait on the MCBR, then something is wrong with the ride. It's built to handle all three trains in the station and final brake run area so if you stop on the MCBR, something weird is going on.

Its odd to see them testing on a Sunday? Maybe they have been all along and I just didnt notice... Anyway yeah I would assume there will be some "stacking" especially the first couple weekends but I think the wait time wont be to bad.. I wish they had an "express lane" for SP members. Oh well we'll all get to ride sooner or later right? And who knows what this behind the scenes ACE thing will bring!
