General Carowinds discussion
#38470
Just to clarify some things. CoasterDynamix was contacted to do a large model for the Carowinds Intimidator, however the park decided not to go through with it.

On the other hand, there is a decent chance you will see some Statix showing up in the park sometime this year :D

DLDude, where is your source. The consensus on the boards is that it would be pointless to do this for Intimidator now. Yes it would be cool to see, and a nice picture taker for during the season but still pointless. The only reason why I would even think that wee could see some Statix showing up at the park would be to A.) showcase 30 yrs of Carolina Cyclone, B.) some sort of Carowinds Muesum would be opening up (but since there is no building to house this..), or C.) Carowinds gets ANOTHER new coaster for 2011. Come on....Three in a row? I don't mean to be pessimistic but seriously? I know CF really wants to invest into Carowinds to bring it up to par to other sister parks but I just don't see it happening. Yeah it would be nice....heck I would drop to my knees in praise and excitement...but I just can't see it happening. The economy still sucks and well....you get my point. I will believe it when I see an anouncement.

I would have to say a model of Carolina Cyclone is more probable. I mean it is 30 years of whirling heads on the great Carolina Cyclone. And it could be a neat little display to put in the line to get more people over there to ride it.

But what are your sources for that sort of information?

Thanks Johnathan for clearly that up for me. lol. I guess I had a had a brainfart moment there. haha. Sorry about that DLDude and everyone. Now I understand what you were trying to say. I could def see an Intimidator Statix being sold in the Pit Stop Shop. Although, it be even cooler if they did one from all of the major coasters in Carowinds. That way when CoasterStock comes along, that could be like a huge prize...a collection of Statix from all the coasters in Carowinds. Carolina Cyclone, Carolina Cobra, Hurler, T-Road, Vortex, Nighthawk, and Intimidator would be a cool little collection, if I do say so myself.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with you here, but Paramount put coasters in in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002, 2003, 2004.

I see your point... In both cases it followed somewhat of a pattern...two family ones and one big one. In the first pattern it was new extremely small one, one major one, and another family one (only to be taken out a few years later). In the second wave it was a new family/kid one, another family/kid one, and finally a relocated big one (so no major investment). In both cases the family ones were extremely small investments compared to recently. Yes Cobra is relocated but think about how much money went into installing all new operating systems and a new train never used in the US. That's a pretty decent investment. Then now you have Intimidator, which is the largest investment in the Carowinds history. Both Cobra and Intimidator are Major Rides, where as the family ones necessarily weren't. IF we were to get another coaster for 2011, I would expect it to be a family/kiddie one for the reason I have laid out. I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but more realistic given all the variables. I just don't want to get my hopes all set up for something major only to have them thrashed for something lesser. I would much rather set my hopes low and get a heart attack when I find out we got another MAJOR ride.

Sorry about the misspelling...God I just can't get it together today.

In good news though, the "housing" for the line is done. It looks like there is a line of bushes next to the exit line. What are all of those white squares next to the exit line? And is anyone else having issues with the webcam? Its like it keeps trying to go in and out. I wonder when the other webcams will come on line, aren't there supposed to be more coming along kinda like at Cedar point?

Are the red lights like the running lights on T-Road just red? I do have to say that on the webcam it looks pretty neat looking with the red lights on the lift hill, what looks like red neon lights at the Garage store and all the lights on in the station and queue line. Looks really bright in contrast to all the darkness.
