Last Saturday I went to Carowinds for the first time since opening day this year. The only reason I went was to test out my new camera and mini-tripod.
For all 308 pictures I took this day, check out it's set on my Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamminj/sets/72157623980092933/
Some notes:
*I made a mistake of parking at the South Gate, and while I got no wait on Afterburn and 4 Flyer rides, the line for Intimidator was insane by the time I got to it. Here was the end of the line when I arrived:

*Flyer #3 SUCKS. Flyer #4 is awesome. Danny Phantom has been replaced by Snoopy on the center pyramid.
LINK.
*I rode the Snoopy Junction train again, the Charlie Brown theme song has been added on the train, but strangely so has the Chicken Dance.. ?? Also comic panels have been added along the fence, but its only TWO panels, and they are repeated 3-4 times. I don't get it. Also the windmill was removed.

*I saw Bart Kinzel walking around picking up trash. Its good to see such higher ups doing the dirty work. Now just plant some trees..
LINK.
*The south gate parking lot behind Thunder Road has a completely new paint job, that goes ALLL the way to the end. I guess they are expecting record crowds?
LINK.
*When did Rip Roarin' Rapids get a dryer? I knew White Water Falls had one...
LINK.
*The retracking on Thunder Road has done wonders. A really enjoyable ride, on both sides. They try to race when they can, unless it will hold up one train for an extended period of time which is understandable.
*Spongebob 3-D is absolutely atrocious. Especially after 7 years. The theater itself is outdated technology. TAER IT DOWN!!
*Cyclone was running amazing I thought. I rode it in the very very back, instead of the next to last row where I usually ride. Here's to 30 more years on the old girl!
*I am usually an advocate of Hurler, but it was not running good. I was on a wheel seat however.
*Cyclone and Hurler both had broken seats. This is unacceptable to me. People get into a line expecting a wait the same as all the others, but force all the guests in these lines to wait twice as long. Broken seats should be priority #1 after making sure all the actual rides are running.
*I left the park to get a sandwich at Bellacinos on Tryon St. Great sandwiches, and very quiet. Follow this with a Chick-Fil-A milkshake next door, and you have a awesome relaxing little meal.
*I don't think Afterburn has been painted, but its seems cleaner and less-rusty than last year. The supports were definitely touched up some. Could all be some sort of optical illusion.
*As I stated in the opening the only reason I came is to test out my new camera, new tripod, and night picture capabilities. CAROWINDS IS NOT A NIGHT TIME PARK!!! There is something about being in amusement parks at night, but Carowinds just has no nighttime atmosphere about it. None of the flat rides had lights, none of the other rides had any lights on them, except for Intimidator. Its just a bunch of florescent street lights that aren't good for photo-taking. Very disappointing. Here is what I managed nightwise:

The last one I initially didn't like much, but may end up being my favorite picture I took all day. There are a ton more Intimidator pics on my Flickr, but these were just the ones I liked most.
Again, for all 308 pictures I took this day, including EXTREMELY high-resolution versions of the ones above, check out it's set on my Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamminj/sets/72157623980092933/.
