Leviathan is 306 feet tall, therefore it classifies as a giga.

... A giga should be around 6,000 feet, which I don't feel like they had the space to make that happen at Canada's Wonderland. Carowinds has the space and hopefully it will be a little bit lengthier.

I agree completely, Leviathan was great, but it ended way too soon. Who has a brake run 100 feet in the air, I mean really?

With 2 million more being spent than Leviathan how much more feet of track could that get? I can't personally see more than 6000 feet, especially if it is a B&M. But top 5 isn't out of the question, and would be awesome for the park.

I devised a super un-scientific formula to hope to figure this out.

Goliath (La Ronde) - $16 Million - 4038 feet - $3962 per foot
Goliath (SFoG) - $20 Million - 4480 feet - $4464 per foot
Behemoth - $24 Million* - 5318 feet - $4513 per foot
Diamondback - $22 Million - 5282 feet - $4165 per foot
Intimidator - $23 Million - 5316 feet - $4326 per foot
Leviathan - $28 Million - 5486 feet - $5104 per foot

*Behemoth is quoted at $26 Million Canadian so I used this site to come to $24 Million USD.

So given that we know our ride is $30 Million dollars, and is probably 90% likely to be B&M we can use some simple math...

$5000 per foot = 6000 feet long
$5104 per foot = 5878 feet long
$5200 per foot = 5769 feet long
$5300 per foot = 5660 feet long
$5400 per foot = 5555 feet long
$5500 per foot = 5454 feet long

If I had to predict (and by predict I mean hope) I would love to see this ride in the 5600-5800 foot long range. Longer would be better obviously, but I don't know if it's realistic.

Leviathan is a giga. There is no such thing as "giga track." Any coaster that goes over 300 feet has "giga track."


We don't know anything about the ride really. Other than cost ($30 Million), height (300ish feet) and location in the park (Thrill Zone). Everything else is open to speculation.

You're thinking of the track Intamin uses. Considering most of the gigas out there are Intamin, I can see why you made that connection. However, Mack and Zierer also use that track "style" as well.

In a straight line this is roughly 1/2 of a mile, so theoretically if it just went out and back it would be a mile (5,280 feet). So, theoretically if it did more than just go straight and back it could end up being pretty decently lengthy. But like JamminJ said, we know so little about this coaster that who knows what it is going to do. It can be a 300 foot launch coaster for all we know. We likely won't know the details till about a year from now so we have a long long time to speculate.

I agree.

I think it'll be close to the current planned layout, the fact that markers can be seen in that area, and we know Xtreme Skyflyer will be moved/removed, etc, so too many details are in-line saying that the image submitted with the footprint in red is official, at least for now. And I don't see it changing, they've likely had this in mind for some time.

And it seems quite long for a Lauched Coaster, especially of the projected height of 315 feet. (Edit: It's definitely not a Lauched Coaster, considering they noted at C3 that they would like to see a Launched Coaster in Carowinds near future , Post-Phase One Expansion)
Stretching all the way out to the Interstate also seems extremely unlikely, taking into account all of the details we do know.

If you consider the vertical track length, and factor for the slope of each hill, you will not have to reach !-77 to end up with well over 5,200 feet of actual track. I do feel the cheapest way to build this monster is to go straight out and back and not add the expense of removing the palladium. It is possible they could shift the park access road a bit to make it a straight shot.

Why do you think they have to remove the Palladium to make the ride go over that way? Seems to me that Cedar Fair has been about making a statement with coasters flying over the entrances to parks lately (Leviathan, Gatekeeper), and I kind of expect that to continue here.

were all going by this picture. We dont know if its factual or not but its all we got. That said. I dont think it would be possible to have the ride go over the palladium without dropping a support straight through it.

Seems to me the picture is likely showing the general area that the ride will be located in, not the actual layout of the ride. There's no reason for them to give that away.

There are plenty of ways to go around the Palladium. Just two examples I drew:



That service road is just begging to have a coaster go down it.
