No one's said that. Actually the exact opposite.
The red line of the track through the Palladium was put there by the Cedar Fair representative, not me or anyone else who'd used it.

With all due respect, try reading the posts not just looking at the pictures.

With all due respect, you've been here for a couple months, and have no authority to be a backseat moderator. Let Jonathan, Wormy, and JamminJ do their thing. And for the record, The person speaking at the City Council meeting was, as has been said before, NOT a representative from Cedar Fair, but Peter Zeiler with Charlotte N&BS Economic Development. He simply had vague information from Cedar Fair's press release, and information they disclosed to get the incentives, and went with that. He had no confirmed information other than what has been confirmed by Cedar Fair, with the exception that he seems to be the one to have leaked the 300' statistic, from what I can tell. So why don't you try reading posts before posting?

When showing the pictures of Gatekeeper and the entrance, he said "This is an example from their Cedar Point Park". That's all. He didn't indicate that they were building a wing coaster like Gatekeeper, nor that they would be replicating Cedar Point's entrance. But since they're building a new coaster that may or may not have a wing train of some sort, and the company confirmed enhancements to the front, he gave an example.

Shouldn't have to be said but we've got a long way to go folks:

Code of Conduct:
1. Flaming: Do not post messages that harass, insult, belittle, threaten, or mock other members. Debates are fine and even encouraged, but you must critique the opinion, not the person.

Chill.

You actually singled me out right at the top of the page. (YOU), does it ring a bell? And once again I brought the closed session meetings to the attention of this site. All you've done is created a fantasy world of misinformation. Flip flopping any and all statements you've made. I see you can't hold an adult conversation by your last post. Instead of trying desperately hard to win a debate maybe we can get back to coaster talk. Beyond nonsense, do you see what I say about the vortex?

You and others MAYBE ..meaning its possible YOU and others feel its a beemer winged coaster. This is my last time replying to anything you post. I really wish there was an ignore button to ignore all this guys post on the site...

Shifting gears a bit to lighten the mood, Carowinds seems to be in a very unique position few other parks can lay claim to. The park has the ability to extract public money from several sources. I know South Carolina has given them money, perhaps NC has done so in the past as well. Now the City of Charlotte is doing it. With that said, it seems to be a no brainer for them to select Carowinds over Kings Dominion for the development of their next super regional park. There is more potential public money and growth here compare to what is in Doswell.
There is something else that seems somewhat striking to me. It appears that Cedar Fair is much more savvy in running a park than Kings and Paramount ever were. Over the past 25 years Carowinds has always been the step child behind KI and KD. Except for Top Gun, we never got the signature attractions. Cedar Fair came right in and noticed potential at two of the under served parks: Wonderland and Carowinds. Now they are making bold investments. I never thought I would ever live long enough to see Carowinds be placed at the same level as that of the flagship Kings parks. For years I've had Kings Dominion envy, and hated when their fans filled message boards crowing about FOF, Volcano, Tomb Raiders, Italian Job, Thrust Air, and the worlds tallest giant drop.
Now there is potential I can finally do a happy dance around Doswell while holding my head up high and proudly saying, "yes I am from Carowinds, that place with a hyper and a giga, it is a fabulous park and you should really try to visit one day. BTW, is I-305 running today, I know it has lots of issues, but i took a chance and drove all the way here anyway?"

Obviously, unlike you, I mean it when I say 'with all due respect'. It was just a legit, friendly suggestion. I know most people don't want to power through paragraph after paragraph of personal speculation, which is 98% of this thread is.

Peter Zeller WAS representing Cedar Fair, or at the very least was representing the "facts" of their argument/intention to get the incentives at the meeting. He was giving out info on their behalf left and right.

And I'm well aware who moderates this forum, and its not you. So take your own advice.

I'll be dancing right with you. :D

And thanks for trying to lighten the mood. This thread's been giving me diabetes for a couple days now. Lol.

But I must say, I do LOVE the enthusiasm on this forum. Nothing else much like it...

When you say 'with all due respect' and then tell someone they should try to read the posts, it doesn't come off as a friendly suggestion. Just an FYI.

Peter Zeller WAS representing Cedar Fair,

No. He was not. Peter Zeller does not work for, nor does he represent Cedar Fair in any way, shape, or form. Peter Zeller works for Charlotte's Neighborhood & Business Services under the Economic Development Committee for the City Council. He's either a politician elected to that post, or he was appointed to that position. His job As Development and Investment Manager is to push for business and economic development. He had a political agenda when he went in front of the city council, and agenda to get them to pass an agenda giving Carowinds/Cedar Fair certain tax incentives in order for the company to invest in his NEIGHBORHOOD, so that there is ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

or at the very least was representing the "facts" of their argument/intention to get the incentives at the meeting. He was giving out info on their behalf left and right.

No, he wasn't. The only information that he seemed to have that wasn't pure speculation (outside of what Cedar Fair themselves have confirmed) were that Carowinds is supposed to be getting a 300' wing coaster that goes 65 mph. He's not affiliated with Cedar Fair in any way. He put together a presentation that, as is obvious from the mounds of information in his presentation, was not officially sanctioned by Cedar Fair. He put together a presentation to try and convince the city council to give the company a tax break so that they'll invest here and not in Virginia (you know, OUT of his NEIGHBORHOOD). It's obvious that he wasn't representing Cedar Fair, because he didn't have correct information, just some vague information that he seemingly took upon his self to present so that the board would approve the tax incentives, and it worked.

And I'm well aware who moderates this forum, and its not you. So take your own advice.

Yeah, but I've been here for quite a while. I realize you're, what, 16 (if the 97 in your username is your birth year)? Show the members here some manners, whippersnapper.

I respect you and the rest of the people who post here. Kindly do the same for me.
Because, regardless of how it came off to you, it wasn't meant that way. Period.

And we are saying the exact same things about Peter Zeller and how he fits into the equation just in different ways, so there's no use going back and forth about it. He's not affiliated with Cedar Fair, yes, but he was pushing the project for whatever reasoning he had. Pushing it the same CF would've been if we had transcripts from any meetings they had with 'the city'.

To be completely honest, this is one of the most bizarre forums I've ever been on, in terms of how people comunicate (usually hostility). But I actually like it!? People are very... Passionate. :)

And age is just a number, gramps. ;) jk.

I mean people aren't dropping F-Bombs every five minutes, but its pretty tense, imo. Lol.

And on the Coaster-topic, I just saw a new report about the Tower Coasters? Like Jonathan posted. Have they actually made one before or is it all projected? Anyone know? I actually wouldn't mind seeing something like that, doubt we will though, at least not at Carowinds.

Its a proposed coaster in Vegas called the Polar coaster . Its proposed to be over 600' tall . In my opinion I along with a lot of people have a hard time believing the transcripts. Like said before the major media has reported over 300' thats it nothing else. I don't believe it will be an a winged coaster or an Intamin.
