General Carowinds discussion

I agree some people can't handle the stress involved within this site. If I may speak for a second it seems that lifelong members of this site are resistant of newcomers. I'll admit I don't know everything involved with carowinds or its immediate future but I've only been met with blatant mockery and disrespect. I've tried to help only to he linked to Hitller? I love to debate and I'm not mad at anyone but we need to help newcomers as well as the established members. Let's be professional. I admit I love to be right but I'm not all the time. If you all think I'm a virus then ill leave but my opinion means the same as yours. Because its an opinion. Good day to you all. Even those I've argued with....and there's been many

Huh? What does this even mean? Stress? Because of a forum? About roller coasters?

There's where you're wrong. Stop assuming and let's talk Carowinds.

It's totally going to be a 300 foot tall inverted standup winged coaster with a side friction section of track

Isn't it great that we have this forum provided by Jonathan so we can argue about things we aren't certain about . . .

Newbies have to be mindful that sometimes you are talking to people who have 30 or more years of Carowinds/amusement experience. Others have expertise in other areas as it relates to the conversation at hard. Sometimes the more seasoned posters get short or frustrated when newbies start throwing things up against the wall just to see what sticks, while ignoring the wisdom some are offering. For example, I have experience in dealing with local government and companies requesting economic development funds. To hear someone come on here and say that a company has to reveal all their plans before they get the money is not true at all.

I think he's referring more towards backstage/operation methods of the park along with a vast general knowledge of amusement/roller coasters in general. I'm 19 now but I've been closely following the coaster industry for almost a decade. All the industry terms and ways just take time to learn and you're no doubt in the right place to learn them.

And at the same time, more long-term members should remember that this isn't the only place in the world that Carowinds or amusement parks are discussed, so just because someone only recently joined doesn't mean they don't have insight or a valuable opinion.

This thread got nuts it seems

Anyways back on the topic of the new coaster. I tried to find documents on the ride and I came across a document from 2010 with plans to widen carowinds blvd from Catawba Trace up to S tryon.... Does anyone remember this? I am wondering if this is part of the plans for this expansion and growth of the park? I know the thing I found was from 3 years ago but maybe that has been in the works and that will be happening with all this as well, because we know they will be modifying the parking lots etc, and there were survey markers all the way out to the end of I guess "catawba trace?" where the buses enter? Just thought it was interesting and would share, I know its not exactly about the "300ft" roller coaster, but I think we have all discussed it enough to where all that can be said has been said, really, unless we just keep repeating over and over

We can speculate all we want but in the end, all we know is its 300ft tall...

Well I cant find that stupid document now, I thin kit was on the char meck site and was a PDF. Oh well. I think its time to move over to dollywood and prepare for the video of their new family launch coaster :D

If you read the description of the location and where he references the map, it sounds to me like the non-expert speaker might have threw together the map (like many of us do) as something to put in his presentation. It appears that he thought the paladium was the front entrance and put the red area there.

This seems a more likely location of the coaster. The yellow is a different potential return path to the station. Thinking about it more, I should have pushed it further out towards the season pass parking lot as I suspect part of it will at least go through the grassy hill at the front of that area.

Wow really? I have been to parks over here on the east coast, I guess I havent been to the more security driven parks. I was really amazed cedar point didnt have any security really, I dont even think they checked my bag

I have been to CP, KI, KD, Kennywood, Dollywood, SFoG, IOA, SeaWorld, BG Williamsburg and disney... and out of those, well I dont really remember any having metal detectors really. I think a couple might have checked bags. I guess you are right, must be in the metro areas or something. I hope to travel more out west next year, and check out some more six flags parks and hopefully a few more cedar fair parks. I just hop with the new revampped entry at Carowinds, they take out the metal detectors, I dont really see the point... Either way, I guess it doesn't hurt anything, kind of like a seat belt on a woodie...
