General Carowinds discussion

Kings Dominion does have metal detectors from what I recall; Kings Island may as well. You are right about the others though which I don't believe do, except Six Flags. I think all Six Flags parks may have them at this point. Great Adventure is so over the top that I have to take off my belt like I'm at the airport to get in.

I wouldn't hold out hope on them being removed. Once these kind of security theater measures are put in place they don't go away.

I think King's Island removed them this year, I can't remember for sure, but I don't think they were there when I went back in July.

Ah I guess I just don remember. I went back to KD and CP this year and dont remember them, but I guess they arent really that big of a deal. I just think its kinda pointless. I think You are right about them not going anywhere. Maybe they will have some kind of brand new up to date metal detectors that talk to you when you go through... or maybe you just stand on a conveyor belt and it pull you through

Anyways, yea I don't think they will be removed either.

I remember that document on the Exit 90 plan. I was looking at it again recently, and considered giving it a bump on here, but wasn't sure of its relevance today. The info is here, as well as the pdf.

I was just looking at this and the road "spring hill farm road" was on these plans, and they just recently re-did it with new turning lanes etc. so looks like they are working on these plans. Not sure what roads have already been done etc. but if they carryout all the plans, I will bet carowinds blvd will get done within the next 2 years...

Anyways we can get back on topic now...

My first online forum participation was with Ultimate Rollercoaster. I guess that goes back about 15 years ago. There were/are lots of Kings Dominion folks on that site but very few if any Carowinds people. It was frustrating being there because no one wanted to or was able to talk about Carowinds. You start a thread about the park and it went largely unnoticed. I found that to be the case at lots of the sites of yesterday year. Your park was either in or out with the members. Jonathan, I imagine the reason you started this site was to give us a place to come and discuss the park we love. Thank you for doing it.

I would certainly chip in towards a forum software upgrade. vB or XenForo would be nice. Who's with me?!

I'd like to be able to "like" posts.

Also, it would be nice to have an off-topic forum.

I was thinking, and its a little off-track but...
a cool name for the coaster would be PHANTASM, meaning a ghost or apparition.
With lots of mythical or supernatural creatures being themed to recent Cedar Fair coasters, Gatekeeper, Banshee, Leviathan, etc.

Maybe a color scheme similar to Banshee? Purple and White or light blue? I hope whatever it is it's unqiue in as many ways as possible. :)
