That is a legit idea if we got a wing coaster. I actually would almost be ok with getting one of that was the theme.

Maybe this dream will come true... hahahhaha. Just think a bright orange 300ft tall coaster with... hmmm... silver rails and supports??

I had that dream too. But for me, the coaster was sending out radio waves telling me to get on. The next thing I knew, I was coming down the lift hill, when the whole thing started collapsing. Instead of hitting the ground, those winged seats caught air and I was hurled somewhere into South Carolina. Once I landed and looked around, I realized that I was at the old Heritage USA site, when Jim Bakker and a Tammy Faye look-a-like, came running out trying to sell me enough food to last a year because according to them, the world was coming to an end and I would need it to survive. At least you were smart enough not get on the coaster in your dream. Those darn radio waves commands get me every time!

I have always thought it would be great if Carowinds took over the old Heritage USA and restore that once beautiful PTL park. They could add some Holy Land, Bible themed areas and more family rides. Rebuild the waterpark; I always thought it was nicer than Carowinds. Restore the unfinished hotel tower and Carowinds has its resort hotel, along with the Heritage Grand. Plus an amphitheater and TV studio for gospel concerts. Build a big giga and call it the Holy Roller. Have a Jim and Tammy Faye tribute museum. Maintain the Upper Room prayer center. And run a monorail across 77 to connect the 2 parks. I never understood why they let Heritage USA decline anyway. It was a great park, especially when they did Christmas City. So not a crazy dream at all. So let Cedar Fair not only expand Carowinds, but also restore Heritage USA!

I don't dream about roller coasters a lot, but last night I had a dream about this coaster-to-be. It was green and black (like Borg was), and it was 305 feet tall with a similar track layout to Intimidator. I think my mind came up with the name Intimidator Jr. or Son of Intimidator. I don't know. It was just a dream

That would have been possible years ago, but now the old site has been broken up and sold off piecemeal. But I do agree, it would have been a great site for an amusement park. Now that you mention it, when Carowinds was in the planning stages, they had an opportunity to own much of the land around the park because they were out there by themselves. When you are doing these things you got to have a grand vision and think, 20, 30, 40 years out. I still hope the park will own the Hispanic mall land one day. They are moving in the right direction with the purchase of 2 years ago. And eventually they need to own the Wendy's/service state property all the way back to the interstate.

I don't recall the Monorail going all the way out to I-77. I do remember it crossing the duck pond and going out to the access road and following it for a while before turning back into the park. You use to be able to wave at people driving into the park from out there. I don't remember exactly when the Outlet Mall opened but it was there early on. I guess it is possible Carowinds owned all that land originally but it was divided up over the years. Tammy Faye Bakker use to claim the mall was built for her outlet shopping needs.

I drew a possible layout if the coaster is on the NC side. Now I may be wrong. I probably am. I couldn't get the picture large enough where I could see Camp Wilderness.

Looking at the map above, Carowinds actually owns a lot of property including the new space. It is sort of configured funny with the campground in the back and the other areas skirting the parking lot. Personally I feel they should build a huge parking deck on the outer fringes and develop a means to move guest to the park, a la Disney, and Universal. All that parking space should be reclaimed for park use. In the short term they could remove the asphalt, and plant trees until they are ready to develop it in the future. As land become more scarce, this is something that will eventually have to be done anyway.

Monorail layout as seen as Carowinds Early Years.

Wow, now that is the park I remember from my youth, no trees. I must be getting old but I don't remember that little section going all the way out to the interstate. Is it possible they shortened the course at some point, possibly when they sold off some of those outer parcels? According to that photo it looks like they once owned everything from the interstate back. Funny thing, in my youth, I always assumed Carowinds owned that, but was surprised to see it being developed by others later on.
