General Carowinds discussion

We can go for these records if the B&M Giga coaster gets built:
-Tallest roller coaster in the Carolinas
-One of the tallest coasters on the east coast
-fastest coaster in the southeast (We can't assume the Polercoasters will be the fastest coaster just because their the talllest)
-Tallest ride ever built at Carowinds
-Tallest ride in the Carolinas.
-Tallest B&M coaster ever built (but that would be hard to market to the GP)
-Tallest Drop (Remember, the Polercoasters have continuous leaps and drops, so we can go for this record)
- Most forceless giga built ever (I'm kidding  )

The fastest and tallest drop in the southeast seem like the most likely records Carowinds would go for.

Jonathan wrote:I think people are speculating about a wing coaster for two reasons:

1) They keep getting hung up on a vague quote about Carowinds being "ready for record breakers" and have taken this to assume that it means world record, then make the leap to assume world's largest wing coaster, when in reality the only records this ride will probably break is Intimidator's records for tallest, longest, and fastest in the southeast.

This. And keep in mind, there are ONLY 8 roller coasters in the world that are 300 feet and over. This could be right at 300 feet and still be 'record breaking' status. I think people are playing too much into the wording. Take it from someone in marketing, you have to create buzz about the product. Doesn't mean an actual world record is being broken.

2) People are having a hard time accepting the fact that the park would install another B&M speed coaster even though its sister park already did the exact same thing and it's a pretty natural conclusion that they are implementing the same plan at Carowinds.

While I'd personally prefer an Intamin giga myself, again, you're absolutely right. I think that it's safe to assume that the coaster is a Beemer. It isn't my first choice, but, then B&M wasn't my first choice for Intimidator either, and I'm glad we have it.

I'm more excited to see the big picture and future that we have in store. I mean, yes, I'll be happy with a 300' B&M coaster 45 minutes from my house, even if it isn't my first choice (which, if we were talking coasters in general, would be a decent sized RMC coaster), but I think that in the next 5 years, Carowinds is going to look much different, have a decent offering, and hopefully a much improved watermark, food department, and ride selection (hopefully that includes flat rides as well).

One thing I know for sure is It's NOT an invert ;).

I'm convinced Carowinds is doing the same as Canada Wonderland, they're both beemers and they both will be on opposite sides of the park and most likely similar. I just wanna know the name the layout the colors scheme and type of train. After that then tell me when the next flat will arrive in the park. I swear if I ever win the mega millions or powerball I'll have at least 3 flats dropped right in carowinds all in the same year lol.

 I would do the same thing.
The flat ride selection we have is good. I would love for them to add a Zamperla Mega Disco & a Tilt A Whirl to the line up of flats we do have. In addition to that, they can add 2 more smaller rides to Planet Snoopy as well. So thats like 4 rides. It;s the little things that make a big difference.
Oh and please remove YOYO and replace it with a Wave Swinger. Yoyo is boring.

Sorry I haven't kept up with the discussion, but just to clarify: the SkyCoaster has been removed, so I'm assuming the coaster is being built there. Am I correct with that part (SkyCoaster being removed)?

The rest is all speculation, what manufacturer, what type, length, etc.

I'd rather be surprised when they announce it, but that's just me.

Yes. In fact, if you look up Carowinds on google maps, you'll see that the skycoaster is removed and sitting in the parking lot until they put it back up near the Nighthawk pond. Also, the Gr8 Sk8 is disassembled and no one knows what will happen to it at this point.

What are you talking about, I just looked on Google Earth, and as of their 11/9/13 image, GR8 SK8 is still there, and (as far I can tell) in one piece. I do see the stuff under the Intimidator, and the Skycoaster sitting in the parking lot.
