General Carowinds discussion

Most of us think that was supposed to be 95 MPH instead of 65MPH. I was just referring to calling all of that 'facts' when it really was more generalizations for the politicians. A 300 ' coaster at 65 mph would more likely fit a polercoaster since all the drawings I have seen of them look impressive but don't have a 300' drop. I could see one of those getting up to 65 mph, though.

they could put a polar coaster any wheres they wanted in the park and not have had to move anything. so why move sky flyer, surely it wouldn't have been in the way and being beside a new polar coaster would have attracted more riders to it. Also plopping a polar coaster in doesn't really say expansion. It would just be a new ride in the same foot print. At 30 MIllion I doubt that would be enough to get it to 65mph without some kind of launch. you would need what a 150-200 foot drop to get going that fast which would essentially be almost to the ground since it would be 300 feet, not much height left. The 600foot one their building in vegas could possibly reach that speed but that thing will cost like $100 million. I just dont see how a Poler coaster fits anything that was speculated at the meeting. Can we go back to discussing the Launched Giga Wing now? :)

[offtopic]^On MS Paint, I use the "Select" button that looks like a square. I cut out the "Hyper" part of the page and used the text button to write in my words. I wrote them in bright grey so they would be distinguished from the black when I made the words white.[/offtopic]

Oh, I thought you did some fancy thing with the Inspect Element feature. :P

I was being a total smart aleck with my Polercoaster comment.

Yes, let's get back to discussing the Launched Wooden Giga Wing coaster, now. In all seriousness for some reason I really think it's going to be something like Leviathan except somehow it will interact with the new front gate.

That's what I'm hoping and expecting as well. And they say Leviathan is a great coaster. Some say better than Millenium Force. So if Intamin I think I would like a 300ft Skyrush instead.

And the coaster will be named PRETENSION!

Jonathan wrote:I think people are speculating about a wing coaster for two reasons:

1) They keep getting hung up on a vague quote about Carowinds being "ready for record breakers" and have taken this to assume that it means world record, then make the leap to assume world's largest wing coaster, when in reality the only records this ride will probably break is Intimidator's records for tallest, longest, and fastest in the southeast.
2) People are having a hard time accepting the fact that the park would install another B&M speed coaster even though its sister park already did the exact same thing and it's a pretty natural conclusion that they are implementing the same plan at Carowinds.

I think this explains KingHippo's opinion.

We're pretty sure that it will be named Centurion; Cedar Fair filed a trademark for the name a few months back.
