General Carowinds discussion

Huh, should have posted that vid a while back then. It was alluded to here back in the middle of all that "record-breaking" chat, but that quote from the interview never made it to print from the scads of articles out there from the time, that I could find anyway. Glad it was posted though; that poster frame of El Barto is classic.

Barbwire wrote:Thanks barbwire!!...... I know more about but can't release any details right now, but I can say that this coaster will be HUGE!!!

Ok this is strange...why would barbwire be thanking barbwire...unless one of you guys are operating out of multiple accounts...hmmm! Time to do some investigating...

Hmmm... Maybe someone has two accounts, one as barbwire and one as another user, and they forgot to log into the right one to reply...

Very sneaky. But why? And whom!? And what motive would they have to feed us info and then claim to know more...

(I just ate a bagel, but that's unrelated. Read all of this in a film-noir raspy detective voice.)

Inquiring minds want to know! Stay tuned more info and surprises on the way. Think big, very BIG!!

Well, here is what I now think. After a bit of research, but pure speculation of course. During the Cedar Fair meetings with city/county officials in Charlotte, the terms "wing coaster" and "record breaking" were used. But we have become accustomed to B&M wing coasters such as Gatekeeper and Wild Eagle. We forget that Intamin has their own version of a wing coaster that features winged seating. Not the style of a B&M wing coaster, but rather in the style of the Skyrush at Hershey Park. With seating on top of the track as well as to the side of the track. So I think we may be getting a Giga version of the Intamin Skyrush. It is still a type of wing coaster, and would be record breaking by Intamin standards. If this theory is true, then it should be more of an intense ride than a typical B&M Giga. But hopefully alleged issues with restraints will have been resolved. So a Skyrush style Giga coaster from Intamin is now my guess, rather than a B&M Giga similar to Leviathan. But we shall see.

I heard the Skyrush is a great intense ride. But I know the general consensus we are getting a B&M Giga perhaps similar to Leviathan. But there has been talk of a wing coaster. But a 300ft wing coaster doesn't seem plausible with the B&M style design similar to Gatekeeper. But then I was reading about the Skyrush and Intamin does describe it as a wing coaster with winged seating. Just a different type of design from a B&M wing coaster. Which is why I though maybe a 300ft Skyrush for Carowinds, since the term wing coaster was used by Cedar Fair during their meeting with govt. officials.
