from Screamscape.

2015 - New Coaster - (4/11/14) According to Screamscape sources, full scale construction (clearing & footer prep) for the new 2015 B&M Giga Coaster project coming to Carowinds is expected to begin before the end of May.

About a month to go then before we begin to see some major developments and some visible clues to what may be going on. And I'm sure by now a construction company has been contracted to build this project. That may be worth investigating for more clues and blueprints.

the main things are, footings out front of the gate, a tunnel out front of the gate and a new toll plaza

As Jarsh said in earlier posts, the blueprints are only for the new parking toll booth, and the corresponding road. Any coaster footers are preliminary designs, as the design may not have been finalized when these prints were originally made. Don't be surprised if footers start popping up that aren't anywhere close to the plans.

EDIT: I just noticed the supposed footers don't even start until it crosses the South Carolina state line. I wonder if each state has different regulations which require different plans? It would also be insanely funny to me if it ended up not even crossing the state line at all...

EDIT2: The plans do say "For York County Use Only."

Thanks Jay! My guess is will start seeing construction on the new toll plaza towards the end of season if not sooner. It sure looks like the park is going to be a Beehive of construction this season. Would be cool if Carowinds was converted into a year around park like Knotts! Speaking of which in 1973, Carowinds was open until Thanksgiving. I guess that and Winterfest didnt work out.

Those are not coaster footers unless there was a mistake on the type of footers shown in those drawings.

They definitely appear to be coaster footers. The blueprints specify "ride tunnel" and a series of "ride footings" follow paths in and out of the tunnel. I can't think of any other type ride that would follow that footprint. Certainly not the kiddie train, lol.

You're correct in that they aren't footers, since the plans refer to them with the correct term: Ride Footings.

And they sure don't need that many footings to rebuild Gr8 Sk8...

The footings/footers could just be there for reference. What is depicted on those drawings is not what would be on official drawings for the coaster. As said before, these are for a project other than the coaster. I will reference my information pertaining to SkyFlyer and where it ended up being put and even the direction of flight. Everyone questioned it but... Not saying those won't be where they go but what's on those sets of plans aren't the right type for a coaster. We shall all see soon enough. I am enjoying guessing like everyone else and cant wait until its all revealed.
