General Carowinds discussion

And was the Intimidator name leaked before the official announcement back then? Seems like they teased with White Lightnin. Which would still be great to see that name returned, although it might be a better fit for a launch coaster.

Keep in mind that Cedar Fair (in one way or another) had the rights to the name Banshee since at least 1994 or 1995 as that was the original name for what is now Mantis at Cedar Point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantis_(roller_coaster)

I still have the t-shirt that they gave to 1996 Season Pass holders who purchased their pass at the end of 1995 that had the Banshee logo on it looking forward to the new ride for the 1996 season. Funny thing is, the Banshee logo that they started using in 1995 for Cedar Point is the exact same logo they started using last year for Kings Island.

I just wanted to clarify that ACE didn't have anything to do with the leaking of blueprints.

Ok, so was the worker right? and the blueprints were on a coaster blog.

It all depends on who you know. A close friend of mine has the blue prints (his company does work for the park) and he's been teasing me about it. He told me one fact, one we all know already.

But I'll be honest here. As excited as I am about this new addition, if I were invited to view the blueprints today, I would decline. There's nothing fun about knowing something before everyone else when you can't (or shouldn't) share the information anyway. I made that mistake some 10-15 years ago. Plus, I'd rather wait and let the anticipation keep building until the announcement. More fun that way...

The trademark for MF leaked a week before they made the annoucement, according to Wikipedia.

I think they'll definately use that name, somewhere, we have no clue if it will be at Carowinds of course but I don't believe they'd spend all the money to trademark something just to throw us off.

Now, those pickets that say "Tree Preservation line" is OBVIOUSLY something to tweak us :)

The cost of a single trademark would be exponentially less than most other "marketing" tools they'd use.

I don't think its crazy to say they MIGHT have added that trademark just to tease the height to the Cedar Fair fanbase that has been speculating and squirming for a hint about 2015 projects for quite some time.

I don't know if the worker was an ACE member or not and just because the blueprints ended up on a coaster blog doesn't mean ACE had anything to do with it.

Back on topic: According to Screamscape, we might have an idea as to why the Fury 325 name has come up so suddenly and why Centurion has gone on the back burner for now. I hope they can get it cleared up quickly, as I much prefer the Centurion name over Fury 325 (although Fury isn't as bad).

Just to clarify:

-I'm pretty sure the "coaster blog" the plans were posted on is this thread. They were posted in April on page 72 by carowindsman6654: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3941&start=1065 All this stuff has been discussed thoroughly here so this isn't anything new. I'm not suggesting any new members read through all 100 pages of this thread because I know that would be crazy, but suffice to say there is nowhere else in the world this project has been discussed more than right here in this thread.
-The plans were not "leaked" by anyone as they were publicly filed with York County.

As for the trademark application, you have to prove intent-of-use when filing for a trademark, so I am skeptical that Cedar Fair would intentionally waste the USPTO's time and resources with frivolous trademark applications (which might even be illegal; I have no idea) just to toy with some nerds on an online forum.

What if the plans from page 72 are actually of a dive loop, (similar to the dive loop on gatekeeper.) people were saying that it resembles a figure eight, but it also resembles a wing coaster element.

The Giga coaster is definitely a possibility, but based on the blueprints, the turn looks pretty small (for a giga)!

I think we should still keep our minds open to different styles of coaster!

I don't think the name Centurion will be used anytime in the near future. A company in Libertyville, Illinois already has the name and I'm pretty sure that's why the Centurion trademark was postponed. Unless the company gives up their trademark or allows Cedar Fair to use it, there won't be a ride named Centurion going to any park.

Recently the speculation has been regarding the alleged 325ft height. But what about the length? Hopefully it will be at least as long as as Leviathan, which I believe is over 5,000ft. And MF is even a bit longer, over 6,000ft. I wonder how long the Carowinds coaster will be?

I went to the park yesterday and found some really bright red markers that were added at the front of the park since Wormy's photo set a few pages back.

I did a little research and from what I can gather, LOD means Line of Demolition.

These markers started at the big "Carowinds" sign out front and followed the edge of the walkway all the way out to right before the preferred parking entry booth is, then curved into the parking lot.

The way it was marked fits exactly like the blueprints we found a few months ago.
