General Carowinds discussion

Love the placement. The turn around for intimidator is next to south gate, and the turn around for (fury 325) is next to north gate. The path to the north gate is between the two brothers. We may not of got a gatekeeper style gate, but we sure as heck got a gate statment.

You can tell by this pic that the teal track is for a "hanging" coaster. Either a flyer or invert.

Holiday World?

Not at all! All that we see now is a flat layout, as if you were looking straight down on it. I'm sure there will be many small speed hills like Leviathan has. And from the flat layout, this coaster seems like it will have many more twists than our current Intimidator.

I hope your correct. From what I've read the last couple years those small speed hills on Leviathan are the best parts. Plus this won't matter for the ride itself but I really would like to see a lift structure like Leviathan has. I think it is one of the most beautiful coasters ever created.

How?

Look at the struts(piece between the spine and the track). Notice how rounded it is? If you compare that to other models, only the flyers and interts are like that. I think its because of the covers that have to be over the wheels that the other types of coasters don't need.

I hated the name Fury until I thought about it being yellow. That wouldn't be so terrible I don't think. If it does turn out to be yellow I am thinking those grey supports beside the track in one of the pictures would be for us too. The only thing I don't fully understand is that at one point I thought the yellow was for a flyer in China. Perhaps we just had the blue and the yellow flipped around since the blue looks to be a suspended style coaster.
White- Gardaland (confirmed now)
Blue- China flyer?
Orange- Holiday World?
Yellow- Carowinds?

Looking at the way it circles around the front of the park and seeing the new entry area in the drawings, knowing they are going to move the current entry road outward, I wonder if they are planning to expand the park's boundaries out to the new entry? Seems like a great place to add a main street plaza with shops up to the plantation house.

I've thought about this before. That would be fantastic! I've always felt that Carolina Plaza was a little bit odd considering it hads just as many rides as shops. The new little "main street" could be small, but efficient. Kinda like SFOG.

Jonathan wrote:Interesting. So it seems like we're pretty much down to the yellow track for Carowinds, right?

The yellow track is "hanging" track as well, I think there have be pieces of it already delivered to China. It doesn't look like our track is out in the yard yet... that is if it is a B&M ;)

Edit: it was the white track that was spotted in EU that i was thinking of

But do understand he was "assuming" that its a smidge over 300. He doesn't know, and neither do we.

Hands down though that coaster is just massive! The most interesting parts of it to me are in that second section F-1.1
What is that element immediately after the first drop? That is definitely not the same as Leviathan's....and that helix thing, what the heck is that going to look like all crammed in there?
