General Carowinds discussion

There are seven wonders of the (ancient) world. They are all amazing things that some would think were impossible for these people to do. Carowinds is saying that it will be like these wonders of the world which will add one more wonder to the count. This will make it 8 wonders of the world.

8th wonder of the world is actually a commonly used phrase I think.

So, if this could be the 8th wonder. What are the previous 7? I really can't find a set list of the 7 wonders. I've found several lists, each with different things. Great Wall, Stonehenge, etc. I want to think that banner is going to be tied to the name of the ride.

Is there any way Centurion could be considered an 8th wonder? Ummmm, I don't see it. That could discount the link between that name and that banner.

Well the roman colosseum happens to be one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world so it could be quite possible that the name of the new coaster is Centurion. Hmm very interesting...

My brain is clicking in overdrive. I'm going with the fact that a 325ft coaster will be the tallest traditional roller coaster in the world. Thereby, making it a contingent for the "8th" wonder. The banner does end with a ?, which could be taken a couple ways. It's really stating "Could this be the 8th Wonder?", and to many thrill seekers, yes!

I could totally see the "8th wonder of the world" marketing for a figure 8 turnaround like Shambhala however, just by looking at the blueprints it does not seem to have that element. Instead it looks like a regular hammerhead turnaround. I think awhile back Jarsh hinted towards a figure 8 turnaround (I may have been reading into his hint wrong though). So Jarsh... I have a question for you... Was it just the blueprints you saw? Or do you also know real stats and elements?

Im not sure but it seems to me like some of yall believe this ride is literally going to be the "8th Wonder of the world." Its not. This is just a way for the park to say look, our ride is spectacular and will draw crowds from all over the world, a.k.a its going to break a record and be massive.

But I know you all knew that already, right?

Okay, the saying "8th Wonder of the World" is never used literally. EVER!

It means it will be the newest wonder added to the list, not the 8th in any rank or order. As in 8, including the other 7. Unless its also a hidden clue, within the common phrasing.

Seriously this is a very common phrase. Lol, its not literal.

The phrase is just saying that it will be a wonderous thing. Basically, it will be big. That's all.
