"Flight"

As well as the wind over the dunes in NC was one of the big factors in their flight being successful.

Height: 318.3 ft
Drop: 306.8 ft
Speed: 95 mph

A 325 ft coaster should beat all those making it world record breaking.

Quick question... when measuring height, is it height off the ground of the highest point, or is it height from the top of the footer where the steel actually starts or difference between the highest and lowest points of the coaster, or height of the lift hill (even though some coasters start ~15 feet or more off the ground).

So are all of the other identical Windseekers also themed to the Wright Brothers or is just Carowinds?

Ricochet is themed to the Battle of Kings Mountain and North Carolina's role in the Revolutionary War because of the way the infantry's bullets would ricochet off of things.

See, Cedar Fair IS bringing Carowinds back to its roots!

Do you have any teaser pictures for us to support that other parks didn't use local things on teasers for their new windseeker rides? Also, do you have any teasers for ricochet that include links to the revolutionary war to back up your claim? If there's a teaser with paul revere or red coats on it, then i'd say you were right.

If you don't want to play the guessing game based on teasers, then wait for the announcement. If you think that teasers have no value, then you've stated your point, and don't bother beating a dead horse. I'm done feeding the troll for today.

Maybe the other parks used local things for their teasers, maybe they didn't.

The point is that Windseeker, which is one of seven identical rides in size and branding, is quite clearly not themed to the Wright Brothers. In fact it is themed to nothing. The teaser was not representative of the theme of the ride. As I recall, a lot of people on here were pretty disappointed when it ended up being identical to the Cedar Point ride with the same name and not even a single reference to the Wright Brothers or the Carolinas.

I hope people aren't setting themselves up for disappointment again...

No one said the teasers have no value, but people are making some ridiculously hilarious leaps from what is most likely simply a way to get the message across that the park is about to build something really enormous.

Since this isn't Theme Park Review I'm not even gonna get mad at you for calling me a troll on my own forum.

I must have miss understood. I'll agree the teasers likely don't have much to do with the theme of the ride. There's also not much theme to many of the rides anyways excluding intimidator. I do recall some of the teasers at kings island pointing to banshee Image so it's not out of the question. But yeah, i don't see a coaster being themed to the voyages of Christopher Columbus.

Its up for debate. Generally, I think the height is measured from track to the ground. This can get a little funky with coasters like Wild Eagle where the lift hill straddles a hill so the "actual" height is have that of what is reported. Its also why you will usually only see its drop height stat listed.

Like AC at BGW... 170 foot tall coaster 210 foot drop. couldn't be tallest coaster, but could claim longest drop(i don't recall who had the longest drop at this point... just using it as an example). Carowinds is pretty flat so i don't think it would come much into play unless the station was 15-20 feet off the ground ala intimidator.. I could see the lift only having to be 305 feet because the station was 20 feet off the ground. But if the coaster dropped to ground level i'd still call it 325 feet tall.

Who is to say that Carowinds didn't intentionally leak the blueprints.....
Someone did, and don't ya think Carowinds would request them taken down if they weren't ready for them to be released....
Concept art for the toll plaza disappeared pretty quickly....
Free publicity....

Maybe this is all just part of Holiday World's teaser campaign.

Re: Ride height, I think most parks used whichever of those number is largest.

Also, for what it's worth, I'm not saying that I don't think this teaser is reflective of the theme/name of the coaster. I think there's a good chance it could be. I'm saying that it isn't necessarily and it's easy to read too much into these things, like what happened with Windseeker.

The toll plaza concept art was on the official website of the consultant hired to design it. The blueprints were leaked anonymously. Plus right now the only people talking about them are a handful of forum users.

I swear to God Mountain Dew nearly came out of my nose.

Some teaser campaigns have everything to do with the theme of the ride (Holiday World's new coaster is an excellent example), while some aren't as obvious. Take for instance Dollywood. Wild Eagle had a banner with clouds on it and the words "Take Off In 2012!" and FireChaser Express had a banner that said "It'll Be A Blast!" Neither of those gave anything about the rides theme away and the only thing that could be determined from either banner was that FireChaser Express "might" be a launched coaster based on the "blast" wording. These campaigns were ok, but not amazing. With Windseeker, neither the quoted image nor the Wright Brothers images had anything to do with the theme of the ride so no one could really get an idea of what was going on. Were we going to be flying? Were we going to listen to poet's talk? Were we going to fly while listening to poet's talk? With Intimidator there was nothing other than tire tracks with the teasers and in the end even that only gave a hint as to the name of the ride since Intimidator isn't a racing coaster but rather a coaster about racing.

The entire point of this post is that based on Carowinds track record with teaser banners, not much thought should be given to the old world map being used as the background. If anything, you could very loosely use it as a teaser for the coasters name and even then I'm not sure if that would make sense based on what we've seen out there. I mean, what does Centurion, Fury 325 or Rugaboo/Bugaboo (whatever it is) have to do with the world?

Like with the entry plaza I think the original blue prints were taken down. Originally I went to a dead link.
