I swear to God Mountain Dew nearly came out of my nose.
Some teaser campaigns have everything to do with the theme of the ride (Holiday World's new coaster is an excellent example), while some aren't as obvious. Take for instance Dollywood. Wild Eagle had a banner with clouds on it and the words "Take Off In 2012!" and FireChaser Express had a banner that said "It'll Be A Blast!" Neither of those gave anything about the rides theme away and the only thing that could be determined from either banner was that FireChaser Express "might" be a launched coaster based on the "blast" wording. These campaigns were ok, but not amazing. With Windseeker, neither the quoted image nor the Wright Brothers images had anything to do with the theme of the ride so no one could really get an idea of what was going on. Were we going to be flying? Were we going to listen to poet's talk? Were we going to fly while listening to poet's talk? With Intimidator there was nothing other than tire tracks with the teasers and in the end even that only gave a hint as to the name of the ride since Intimidator isn't a racing coaster but rather a coaster about racing.
The entire point of this post is that based on Carowinds track record with teaser banners, not much thought should be given to the old world map being used as the background. If anything, you could very loosely use it as a teaser for the coasters name and even then I'm not sure if that would make sense based on what we've seen out there. I mean, what does Centurion, Fury 325 or Rugaboo/Bugaboo (whatever it is) have to do with the world?
