Someone did, and don't ya think Carowinds would request them taken down if they weren't ready for them to be released....
Concept art for the toll plaza disappeared pretty quickly....
Free publicity....

Like with the entry plaza I think the original blue prints were taken down. Originally I went to a dead link.

Yes, I found the site and posted here (not realizing that Carowinds monitors this forum). A day or so later, it was removed from that site. But again, The plans are still out for the coaster.

I think that the sign on the fence, this teaser, is all just a troll to get us wound up about something that is about something completely different. "The 8th Wonder of The World?" this is just implying that it will be world record breaking. I think that ancient map was used as the background because of the 7 ancient wonders of the world. This implies nothing about the theme of our new giga. It's fun to talk about and speculate over, but to me, it's just a troll (pardon my use of idiom). Again, this is just to side track us for a little while. But still I'm all open ears for speculation. 8)

Just to add more pointless drivel to this thread, in 2008 when Kings Island was teasing Diamondback they had some odd teasers..

Mustang.

Some of the KI message boards were convinced that the coaster's name would be "Mustang" and would go along with similar western style themes that Cedar Fair had used for Maverick and Renegade in 2007.

Of course this ended up being a complete misdirection.

EDIT:

I forgot about Kings Dominion in 2012 released this teaser..

A lot of people thought it was for a new giant launched coaster. But it actually was for a Planet Snoopy expansion...

As a 'newcomer' to the enthusiast community over the past few years, I fell victim to taking the marketing teasers too literally. While we all were quite certain we were getting a windseeker, I thought for sure ours was going to take the Wright Brothers theme which would have been a brilliant move. Nope, same exact windseeker that is all over the country at CF parks.

Same with Wild Eagle. One of the teasers made it sound like it would be going underground so I thought it would have a tunnel. Nope.

So, like others more experience here, I do caution those of you who are trying to take this teaser too literally. While it might pan out to something, most likely it won't.

My take on the banner is that this is for the GP who know nothing that we have discovered over the past year or so. To them, this is the hint that this coaster is world record breaking and is located on the map near Charlotte, NC. There might be some obscure tie-in to the ride but it probably won't be apparent until after the announcement.

The banner isn't trying to mislead anyone.... "8th Wonder of the World" is a common phrase meaning that something will be both BIG and UNIQUE.

The wording doesn't have anything to do with Leviathans, ancient structures, etc. Its a common phrase. Its not literal. It could be a hint, but I completely doubt it.

Its just a way of saying "were building something big". That's all I guarantee it. Everyone's reading into it too much because, well... What else can we do right now?

Needless rant:
As far as the name Rougarou goes, no, just. (but at least its better than Fury325)... Fury 325, uck. Let's stop with he number-names and have unique titles for these rides. Ceturion is the best option, imo. But if they want a supernatural creature name, wouldn't the logical choice after the female Banshee, be the male BOOGEYMAN. I could see a boogeyman surrounded by fog sitting in front of the queue ala Banshee. (Anythings better than Fury325 and Rougarou, IMHO)

I mean, what does Centurion, Fury 325 or Rugaboo/Bugaboo (whatever it is) have to do with the world?

imo, Many people have thought of the Roman Army as a Wonder of the Ancient World. A Centurion is a professional officer of the roman army and navy. It still remains to be seen, but if the name ends up being Centurion with a roman theme then that map would without a doubt had been a clue.

I did a little digging and found this 16th century map that appears to be the same one or very similar to the one Carowinds used.

Source: http://shyamalavikas.blogspot.com/2012/03/world-map-16th-century.html

Description: "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" (Theatre of the World) made by the Flemish cartographer and geographer Abraham Ortelius in 1570, who is generally recognised as the creator of the first modern atlas.

Maybe the name will be Flemish Fury?

I swear to God Mountain Dew nearly came out of my nose.

Some teaser campaigns have everything to do with the theme of the ride (Holiday World's new coaster is an excellent example), while some aren't as obvious. Take for instance Dollywood. Wild Eagle had a banner with clouds on it and the words "Take Off In 2012!" and FireChaser Express had a banner that said "It'll Be A Blast!" Neither of those gave anything about the rides theme away and the only thing that could be determined from either banner was that FireChaser Express "might" be a launched coaster based on the "blast" wording.

Well...you do blast out of the fireworks barn thingy...the fireworks blast off...
