And you know this how? I see Fury 325 as the most likely name.

Because 325 is not going to be the height of the coaster.

Once again, you know this how?

The media day invites won't come until the coaster is ready to open. I'm guessing you are referring to the announcement invites. In that case five folks got them that regularly post here.

Got mine today.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that this is not what Carowinds had in mind when they sent you an invite. Sending someone that you don't know to represent you just sounds like a terrible idea.

The Carowinds PR person said that it's fine. If they didn't want this, I wouldn't have done it anyways.

Charlotte also has the nickname, The Hornet's Nest, so I wonder it it's tied into that - Hornet's Fury, Hornet's Fury 385 , or something like that? Not sure where the paranormal part comes into play, though. Still thinking on this...

Someone did previously mention hornets so I'm not taking away from them. Just confirming that it makes sense and that would be great to tie into the Carolinas.

I don't care what Carowinds PR said... there is zero chance I would ever send someone from an online forum that I have never met, much less even chatted with, to represent me at a public event. But, to each their own...

Thanks to everyone that wanted to take my spot for the Carowinds announcement media day. The spots have been taken. The people have been contacted.

However, if I get the media day invite for Fury 325's (yes I am giving the name out now, we gotta call it something) Media Day, I'll let you guys know and ask for people that would like to come. I will most likely be not able to make it out there for media day and I would never like to take an opportunity down.

You might want to brush up on your Charlotte history. The Hornet's Nest nickname is not because of the basketball team, but rather, the Charlotte Hornets got their name because Hornet's Nest is one of the nicknames of Charlotte.

Lord Cornwallis came to Charlotte in the fall of 1780 on his way to destroy the Continental Army, but he only stayed sixteen days. The local partisans were just too hot for him, and he later referred to Charlotte as “A Hornet’s Nest of Rebellion” giving rise to Charlotte being called the Hornet’s Nest City today.

That's also why there is Hornet's Nest Elementary, Hornet's Nest Park, and have you ever wondered why the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police have a Hornet's Nest on all their cars and as a logo: http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/CMPD/Pages/default.aspx

Yes, Charlotte is also nicknamed The Queen City.

While I'm not a basketball fan, I completely understood why everybody was so upset that New Orleans took the name 'Hornets' with them since it had historical value and I was happy to see the name return to Charlotte.

Thanks for the history lesson! I didn't know all that

You're welcome. I moved here about 14 years ago and was quickly given the lesson by a local who befriended me (a diminishing commodity). I figured there were others here who didn't know that since it's more commonly known as The Queen City.

If you can't make it to anything the park is inviting you to, why not email the park and asked to be removed from their media mailing list? They mail/email those invites out because they want the people who can publicize their addition to show up and write stuff about it (or fill seats as the case may be at media days). If you are giving your invite to someone that the park doesn't know of/hasn't approved of, there is a chance the park will take you off of their list on their own - especially since this person could potentially act a fool and ruin your reputation with the park.
