General Carowinds discussion

We're all just taking stabs in the dark. And even if there's an obvious theme (hornet/Rome/dragon/seamonster), the name may have nothing to do with it.

Look at Gatekeeper. The theming is all bird...wing coaster, bird logo, bird-themed trains. But it's called Gatekeeper, which has absolutely nothing to do with birds, simply because they wanted it to go over (and through) the front gate.

So even if the theming is 100% insect, they could go ahead and call this thing something totally random like Bananagrabber or whatever.

^I'm going to explain to you why this doesn't make sense.

If you look at the signs, Gatekeeper is a Griffon (Eagle/Lion hybrid). In greek mythology, Griffons usually guard something. This particular griffon guards Cedar Point's gate, hence the name 'Gatekeeper".

Based on the most recent teasers, I'm thinking it will be something bee/wasp/hornet themed. I don't think the name will be 'Hornet', but rather something along the lines of it. I think 'The Queen' is a good name for our coaster, because it represents both the Queen of a hive and the Queen City. I doubt it will be used, but that's just something I thought.

But will they have animation rights? That's the key.

Anyways, when I first saw the beekeeper picture I was 99% sure it was going to be "Fury". I still think that name is in play but it does seem like a firefly/insect/potential dragon type creature. I thought it was interesting the Observer post mentioned the "lightning strike twice" teaser, is that still up or has it been replaced with the phone call teaser. If it's no longer up its interesting they mentioned it as I'm sure they were briefed on what information to put out. So maybe this won't be White Lightning 2.0 but it may be lightning related.

If it is bug themed than I think it will definitely be something hornet themed. The Hornet? The Stinger? It could be any hornet themed name (and don't kill me for saying this) with and added '325' or 'Carolina'.

-Yes. Invitations are being emailed as far as anyone knows.
-Yes, you must have an invite to attend.
-Not everyone gets an invite. Only people the park considers media are invited to attend.

I don't think that the Charlotte Observer know anything about the ride... Carowinds is being very good about keeping it a secret. I know someone who works at carowinds, and she has no idea what the ride will be. the last that she heard the coaster was named Centurion.

Yes - I think they have been amazingly good at keeping this a secret. And about the coaster being named "the Queen"...I'm not sure I'm loving that....

So what you're saying is that I can't crash it...
