I did notice that "Clifford The Big Red Crane" has yet to make it to the park. I wonder if they're waiting for that before vertical construction. It just seems like they would have started sooner. After all, this is North America's longest steel coaster.

Then again, Gatekeeper construction started a bit late (I mean late as in during the off-season, not schedule) and it got constructed by opening day. I hope Fury starts rising by next week.

The back half of the coasters construction could't really happen until they opened the new toll plaza and parking entry road. With that opening this weekend they can now dig into taking out the old toll plaza and getting parts of the new entrance in progress while ( I assume ) still leaving the current entrance intact till the end of the season. There is plenty of footers in that area to be poured and cured so I wouldn't think there'd be too much done till they get at least some small dent made in that portion. As I understand it once they start vertical they tend to churn right thru it so there is no real rush to see it started...though I am like most and anxious to see it happen.

Thanks for the great update, Wormy. It gets me all excited to see the larger supports sitting there.
Also, I have to agree. I do not think that we will see vertical construction for a few more weeks. I mean, look at all of the remaining demolition work that still needs to be done. Not to mention the fact that the concrete needs to cure.
This is still the longest part of the construction, so let's not get our hopes up too soon

Keep in mind that Cedar Point opens later than Carowinds...

Frankly I'm skeptical if we will see any thing vertical before this time next month or so. After visiting the park today I saw that there is still much work to be done on the back half of the construction and I'd venture to say we won't see much vertical till most of the footer forms are in place...but what the heck do I know lol

I too was at the park today, they certainly had a lot of supports and good bit of track, however it seems they have been working kind of slowly (but then again this is the 5th longest roller coaster in the world).

On Hurler today, I was noticing that there seems to be a lot of standing water around where some of the footers are. Did it rain like crazy last night? I know weather can be very different in my part of town than over there.

^It rained pretty hard when Scarowinds started on Friday. Most of the rides were down until 9:00 due to lightning.
