I guess the trims are necessary due to the height and high speed. But does Leviathan have trims? And I would assume they have analyzed the logistics and physics to determine the trims and avoid blackout problems like on I-305.

Someone on here pointed out to me that Leviathan has trims on each of the camelback hills. Leviathan's trims are magnetic just as Fury's will be, unlike Intimidator, Diamondback, Behemoth, etc. Those rides have friction brakes. The funny thing is that I rode Leviathan over and over and never even realized it had trims because the magnetic ones are silent. I'm starting to think it might be the noise of the friction trims that annoys people rather than actually being able to notice any decrease in speed. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not too worried about the trim.

I just checked, Leviathan has two magnetic trims... One on the first tall camel-back hill, and the other on the other camel-back hill after the turn-around. And I have to agree that the reason for the trim on Fury is for what you stated. To prevent blackouts and such. Also, if the trim goes on the hill before the helix, I think that they figured out that the train will be going too fast for the helix and decided to add trims?

The trims don't have anything to do with blackouts. B&M seem to be by far the most precise engineers in the coaster industry. They want their rides to run as close to the designed speeds as possible. All of their recent hypers/gigas have had trims computer controlled trims installed by default that are activated if the train is traveling above the design speed. Ride speed can vary slightly due to weight, weather, wheel quality, etc., so this is their way of controlling for those variables. It's a bit annoying how anal they are about it, but I understand it. So basically, when you get a "trimless" ride, it's probably in actuality not much different than a ride where the trims catch, it's just that the train was going at or below the design speed to begin with so there was no need for them to activate.

Also, these are magnetic trims. I'm sure you won't feel much of a difference. Anyone here been on a B&M with magnetic trims? Could you feel a difference? But with that said, Jonathan, I have to worries about the trims.

So I was bored and went back through and read the last 20 pages of our little #30 Mil 300'+ tall coaster speculation thread as well as the announcement thread.
Quite pleased.
I can't wait to talk to you guys (and girls) again. That was truly a great day for us all.
