What bothers me is how painfully unattractive the asphalt is. And, do we really need a "parking lot coaster", half the people on TPR already shits all over Fury as it is (although I seriously suspect that will change once construction progresses/finishes). I'd hate to have to pour through negative comments about the blacktop in between the ones about how lacking our park is in the flats department.

From the looks of things, as Wormy said, most of the footers are done, and the trench has been started. This thing may actually be done by opening day. The most interesting thing was all the buzz in the park by guest about this coaster. Some folk looking at the video actually tuned to me and asked if I knew what a giga coaster was. I smiled and said, 'a coaster that is about as tall as a 30 story building.' They were very happy with that answer. It's funny how many people don't have a concept of height when you give it to them in feet. The most endearing thing that happened to me today was I met a father and daughter in line waiting to ride Intimidator. She had Downs Syndrome and could not speak. Her parents were afraid to allow her to ride but she kept pointing at the coaster. He gave in and allowed her. I rode with them. She enjoyed it and wanted to ride again.

I take what enthusiast say with a grain of salt. Most of them are spoiled little brats who have no idea what constitutes a 'good coaster'. They hate Intimidator, but if you asked the general public, it would rank higher than most of the coasters they say are great. IMO, Intimidator is a more complete ride than 305. Looking at the specs of Fury, and considering it's a B&M, there is no reason why it should not be the number one steel coaster on the planet. I'm sorry but I'm with the general public. Not trying to black out, get sick, or walk around dizzy after getting off a coaster.

And from the looks of things earlier today, the parking lot is all torn up, especially near the footers. If they did not remove the remaining asphalt and plant grass, the front of the park would look like a war zone.

I really hope they plant grass. As happy as I am to get a giga coaster, I don't think I like the idea of a "parking lot coaster" becoming the new face of our park.

The fact is that CF, unlike SF, doesn't just plop coasters anywhere; they make sure the coasters look like they are actually intentionally placed. They will remove the rest of the asphalt when they are good and ready.

I completely agree. I think there is absolutely no chance of the pavement being left under the coaster by the time Fury 325 opens. If CF was cheaping out like SF tends to do, they wouldn't be replacing the front gate and upgrading all of that infrastructure. When the park opens in the spring, everything is going to look like it belongs.
