Perhaps at Carowinds, but not always. Not all big coasters are ready for opening day. I don't think Gatekeeper and Banshee opened on opening day, but I could be mistaken. While I am excited for Fury to be finished, I don't mind waiting till May or June if I have to. This is a massive project, so it could take a while. But hopefully not that long. But no reason to be obsessed about opening day. It will open when it is ready. Just be glad it is coming to Carowinds and not way up in Ohio somewhere or down in Florida. Something this major will help put Carowinds on the map as a destination park, much more so than Intimidator. Which I also think is a great ride.

Well I'm not panicking, nor am I an Expert. I too have watched many coaster construction and it should not take a crew with all the equipment they have a full 8 hrs plus days worth of work to erect half a support tower especially a B&M one. I could see if it was an Intamin support tower like MF or I305 and even then it didn't take the I305 crew that long and they were working in freezing temps in the snow and at night some nights.

Then you look at the cam today right now and see the weather is not to pretty, then you see why some are questioning them working so slowly and making a March opening. Yes these pieces are huge, yes we want then to be safe and do the job correctly, yes after they get the lift and drop up hopefully the lower sections will pick up the pace, but not if they continue with the one piece at a time all day on one section with the bad weather coming in.

I'm hoping it's opens on time just like everyone else, trust I'm not trying to wish anything bad on this coaster, heck I'm coming from California to ride this beast, so of course I want it constructed properly and to open on time.

I am also hoping for an opening day completion. But it's better to have a safe coaster to open on a later date than one that will need to be shut down and re-worked *cough* I-305 *cough*.

Bad weather coming in? We're talking about the North and South Carolina border here.

The only bad weather that's going to affect construction is if heavy rain obstructs visibility for the crane operators, or the wind is blowing too hard to keep things steady up in the air.

We don't have real winter here. It's just kinda like fall weather, from December till Febuary, compared to Northern Ohio (or any other Amusement park in a region that actually has a Winter season). I mean the people all freak out down here if an inch of snow falls, or if the temperature drops below 20 for a day. If it does snow, it'll melt fast. So winter weather isn't going to be a concern for construction at all. For example: the county and city governments don't even own any snow plows here.

Like I said, the only weather that's going to slow construction down is heavy rain or wind. And they can still do work in that weather, just not lift heavy pieces with the big cranes.

You must not have been in either state last Winter. It was pretty bad. Not Ohio bad, but bad for NC/SC....and it's already getting worse earlier this time around. Yeah I was here last winter. Like I said, people freak out down here about the slightest bit of cold or snow. If we get snow like we got last year, and it slows down construction, they really hired the wrong people to do it. From what I can tell, that's about as bad as it gets, right? That kind of weather should be a non-issue.

From what I've heard the winter is supposed to be far worse than last year. I'm only 20 minutes from the VA/NC Border.

We got a lot of snow last year. From late November to late March it was snowing here, and that never happens. Snow usually doesn't start happening until January and ends in March, and like FamousAmos said, it's supposed to be worse. it already snowed in the mountains and the Raleigh-east area at the end of October!

Don't bag on Mosley.They've built damn near every coaster in the park. Fury 325 WILL open at Carowinds, and that is the only matter of importance.

I also believe that it'll be open for opening day. They've already gotten this far, so why should it take 4+ months to finish the rest?

I find it quite comical all this worry about Fury not being ready for opening day. I monitored on almost a daily basis, Top Gun (Afterburn), and Intimidator construction and once they get past the lift hill and first drop, construction will pickup at a really fast pace. Even in the rain. I witnessed Top Gun track being hoisted into place in the rain so that shouldn't be a problem now that all the footers are in place. In the case of Afterburn, the lift and first drop were completed before the extended Thanksgiving / Christmas break. They didn't even lay the next piece of track until after New Years day. It was completed and testing trains in 1 month (early Feb). Fury shouldn't take but another few weeks more. So, unless it snows a lot, I mean a whole lot during Jan & Feb, Fury will be testing by early March.

In all honesty, this thread is getting very annoying. For every one post about actual news or construction, there are fifteen talking about how slow things are moving or insinuating that Mosely doesn't know what they're doing. Some of you guys are being a little ridiculous. Is it that hard to believe it actually takes time to build the world's tallest lift-hill?

And for anyone who thinks Fury won't be finished in time, I don't know what can be said that hasn't already been pointed out. There's no way this thing won't ready in time for Opening Day 2015. The park, the chain, and Mosely are all professionals and they've done this countless times.

Sorry for the rant, it's just giving me diabetes to read through this thread lately and that's unfortunate because I really am interested in discussing the actual topic... but whatevs.
