General Carowinds discussion

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Hope you all had a great day. I took a trip up on the top of Crowder's Mountain in Western Gaston County. I did not have the perfect camera for this but using what I had (which was a Canon Power Shot with a 20X zoom) I took a few photos of Carowinds from 20.8 miles away. Something different anyways. Sorry the image is not that great.

Wow! I go up to Crowders all the time! (I live about 15 min. away from it). I never knew that you could see Carowinds from up there, I bet Fury will make that a lot easier. :)

Also it looks like the cranes are back up for today, I thought they would have the day off.

Wow, I wasn't expecting them to be back until Monday. Looks like they want to take full advantage of whatever good weather days that they can. So far, all next week looks perfect. That first lift and drop are going to get done a lot faster than I was expecting.

They've already got a support for the drop installed, and several railings on the lift installed this morning. And more drop supports are getting assembled on the ground.

That's freaking awesome.

They have done that a few times. I'm sure it's just how their supposed to build it and more productive.

No, the previous support has a vertical shaft underneath it so the return track can pass underneath it. The current support does not need to do that, so it is angled on both sides. Yes it sounds confusing.

Yes I know, it just that they have been putting a few sections in at a time, compared to the big piece they put in today. Quite a lot got done today for a day I didn't think they would even be there.

Are you talking about the diagonal cross-brace below the horizontal cross-brace?

It'll be there, probably pretty soon. I think that might be it laying on the ground alongside the bottom of the drop, right now. The upper attachment point is visible, and bottom section of it is already installed (circled in red).
