General Carowinds discussion
#66502
I'm pretty sure construction is going to be a breeze now. The lift was probably the hardest part of the ride to build because of the use of extensive crane work. I imagine that the rest of the track installment will be low to the ground besides the barrel turn, turnaround, and the few camel backs which aren't nearly as tall as Timmy's! Can't wait for the whole shebang to really get started!

FORT MILL — Carowind is topping off the 325-foot lift hill on the new Fury 325 giga coaster on Thursday. After installing the final piece of the highest point of the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster, crews will plant a Christmas tree on top.Fury will stand 20-feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. When Fury 325 opens next spring, Carowinds will have two of the 10 tallest rollercoasters in North America (the Intimidator is 232-feet tall). Here's a look at Fury 325 construction by the numbers:* 400 – Trucks needed to haul the pieces for Fury 325 to Carowinds in Charlotte* 33 – Trucks needed just for the equipment to build the 350-foot crane that’s erecting the Fury 325 lift hill.* 140 – Tons needed to counter-balance the crane.* Hundreds – Test runs with water dummies that will be required before the official certification process can begin.

I suppose that Carowinds will move the lift hill camera after the next few pieces of track are installed... hopefully when the entire coaster is complete that camera can then be returned to view the lift hill again so we can see the water dummy testing down that gigantic drop!! :D

Two comments:

1) Wow that is stunning how huge it looks. Can't wait to see it for myself in a few weeks.
2) Please be careful using phones/cameras while driving. I don't want someone to kill themselves or someone else trying to get a photo of a roller coaster.

Wow. That thing is breathtakingly massive!!!

And thumbs up to Mike for giving Max such an awesome tribute and making him forever a part of Fury and Carowinds!
He's more than just our personal Lorax, he has also already proven to be a friend of the enthusiasts and a great guy in general.
