I did a little reading in the foundation plans I have. I'm not a contractor, but i read that the concrete needs to cure for 7 days once the forms are removed. Maybe they can build on them faster than 30 days?

Typically, concrete requires 28 days to reach its "design strength". However, it reaches approximately 70% of that strength after 7 days. For time-sensitive projects, engineers will often over-design the "design strength" such that the construction loads are can be supported after only this 7-day window.

I wonder will they build up the entire trench, including the walls, and supports for the bridge while they are down there?

It would make sense to pour everything they're going to pour all at one time. Coaster footer and bridge footers. The sides may be pre-fab concrete panels. If that's the case, they'll probably put them in after.

I would make sense that they could put track/supports on it sooner than the 30 days then. I'm sure the design strength is including forces that the trains would be causing too.


also keep in mind, there are still about 17 supports and 29 pieces of track that can be installed before we head into the pit.

I also would think since they are low to the ground and not having to bear the extra forces generated by the trains for a few months they could easily get away with 7 days...but time will tell. Plenty of coaster yet to build regardless.

I think one third of the track is up now, so they got much track work done in the last few weeks. I guess it won't take too much longer until the coaster is complete.

Still wondering when the next truck loads will arrive....there are only nearly 40 track pieces left...

Could they be putting a large fountain there in the front? Instead of filling in or leveling off that space, they appear to be going deeper. The park said the front animation was not the final design.

Hmmm. Would be interesting. But I think they would be building up the far side to enclose the "pond" if they were. They seem intent on leveling that area.

Would be even better for that whole pie-piece to be water and the coaster almost skim the water at the point of construction where they are now.

I don't think there will be a pond/fountain there. In the pdf files there will be lots of trees:

Yeah. They're probably grading for drainage and laying topsoil for the grass/trees.

I just noticed that those plans don't include the oval further down the state-line that had the state shapes in the animation.
