General Carowinds discussion

I tried to convince my husband to come with me, he didn't seem interested.
I think I have convinced him, though, to bring the whole fam to Spring Fling during Spring Break. He seems ok with the idea of a riding event. :)

Just signed up for ACE and the Winter Warm Up :) I'll be taking my Wife who has ZERO interest in ever riding Fury 325 and our two boys who are as excited for opening day as I am. Looking forward to meeting you guys and gals.

Ok this just donned on me....how are we to get in? Will it be thru the south gate or will it be something similar to the entrance at the end of the season? With all the construction going on I was just wondering how that was going to be handled.

I was just assuming that we'd use the access road underneath Intimidator like during SCarowinds. But I don't know how the surrounding asphalt is looking.

Oh, and Happy New Year guys and gals!
Let's make this year very special!

Yea, I was wondering what parking lot we were going to use but figured Jarsh would let us know.

Oh, BTW, if and when it comes time for video and picture shoots I'd like to throw my name in the hat. At my age I can play Single, Father / Husband and Grandfather as I did on the original Borg shoot in the cold. :D (Yes, I have 3 grandchildren)

As it was mentioned, they do the control panels for lots of coasters and flat rides. I hadn't considered them before but they mentioned something about doing a presentation at an ACE Ohio event that had some audience participation so I thought it might be a decent space filler. We will see...

I'm an ACE Ohio person and those people were excellent presenters. Really nice people.

I think you can add me to the list as possible soon-to-be ACE member, as well as hopefully making it to this event. I used to be really into coasters (would be on rcdb scanning through all of the stats of random coasters..), and while that side of things has calmed down some over the last few years, I am absolutely ecstatic for Fury this year and can't wait.

As far as the event, I would imagine this would still have potential to be fun (if not interesting) for the more casual coaster enthusiast? I've never been to a special event like this before, and not knowing anyone or what these events are typically like.. just thought I'd ask. I would still probably go either way, but just trying to prepare myself.. haha.

Jarsh, On Saturday I will be mailing another registration form and payment for one more guest. So Now I will have two guests. More than likely, We'll stay overnight after the event and drive back to Virginia the following Sunday. You should receive the payment and form by sometime next week. If anything else changes, I'll be sure to let you know.

On a side note. Let's say it's really cold outside, and we will still have the site tour, one of my guests may wish to stay inside of Harmony Hall where it will be warm, will this be okay? If not, she will be miserable. If it is indeed very cold.

Also, the whereabouts of the construction. I think that, at this rate, on the day of the Winter Warm-up the construction of Fury should be at either the large camel-back hill, or in the double-helix, should the weather be nice over the next 16 days.

First of all, to specifically answer your question, there will undoubtedly be someone staying in Harmony Hall to watch over things while the construction tour goes on.

On a side note, most of your questions will probably be answered when the email goes out with specifics on the event. Every ACE event/shoot/etc that I have gone to has done that. You get the specifics in an email in plenty of time before the event as in where to park, etc. You do have to remember that some of the details of any event aren't usually finalized until the week of the event so emails don't go out right away but usually closer to the event.

If you are interested and excited about amusement parks in general, yes. If not, it may not be that interesting. I expect my wife to be bored just waiting for the food. ;) Most of 'the meat' of an off season event for ACE Southeast is Jarsh showing us videos and PowerPoint presentations from the parks about what is coming for 2015 both coaster and non-coaster related since many of us coaster enthusiasts are also amusement park enthusiasts. Usually one or two other parks send a rep to come and talk to us and take questions.

For the most part. a majority of what will be presented at the event can be found online at the various park websites, community enthusiasts' sites, etc. What you can't get online is the personal experience of meeting people and hanging out with old and new friends for the day, along with some free swag from the parks. There are also usually some great prizes.

I didn't take into account the food and off-season park tour which alone make this event worthwhile.
