to keep the sand in? heh I would say for protection during shipping etc as to not have the rounded edges damaged.

Here's a question then. What keeps the sand in the rails after they take it off but before the weld the ends together? Or, for that matter, compacting at the bottom of a hill?

Is it me or does the front gate look smaller than I expected. I know from that high it will but geez it's way small. How many scanners are we looking at having? I think CP had 10 stands 2 scanner per stand which would make for 20 lines. I'm just lowkey excited about the LED board.

also has anyone heard if carowinds is removing the carowinds sign once you enter the park since they will have a new one in the plaza. seems like it would open that space up make it less congested.

I still think Mike mis-spoke when he said it had sand in the rails. It makes no sense for Fury to have sand in the rails to dampen the sound when no other coaster in the park does. I mean, you can hear the other B&M's from all across the park!

Steve said it didn't and Mike said it did (because that's what Clermont told him). I'm still not sure I believe it unless this has become a standard for B&M.

Jarsh their filled you can see them clearly welded shut in this pic. And my guess as to why they did it, I'm thinking it would be difficult for guest services and other services etc to hear and for people to speak to them with that loud of a roar ever 3 mins.

We all know Afterburn doesn't have sand in the rails, yet they have the same cap in the rails. As Edwardo says, that doesn't prove there is sand inside.

That's what we're debating over. B&M never fills the spine as that would add too much weight to an already heavy piece. We know Mike said there was sand in the rails, but Steve said there wasn't, thus this debate is occuring.

The only coaster track I have ever with the cone plug system is Swartzkopf(yes I know it is spelled wrong.)

Didnt gatekeeper have sand in its rails? I'm sticking with what Mike said that it has sand. And believe it to be so that the park can communicate with people coming into the park etc.

When a train travels around a box-section track, it creates a distinctive roaring sound, which is unique to this style of track. I sure hope they aren't filled! I want to hear the roar!! Guest Services can use amplified speakers similar to banks!
