Ive never been afraid of coasters, but I'll admit that I completely underestimate my first coaster ride - Mean Streak at CP. It looked slowed during the 2 hr wait (in 90+ degree temps) that first year (and first trip to CP). After that, I did have to reassess and then later conquer Mean Streak (on my 18th birthday back in 99). Since then, I ride whatever coaster you put in front of me! Period. Fury 325 may overtake top spot on my list of coasters; that is one part of this process that I'm excited for. But, d3ep down, I don't know if I want a coaster to overtake MF on my list... time will tell, but I still can't wait! I have a feeling about this one - sinilar to how I had a feeling about Banshee!

For me it is illogical to fall 320 feet and live. Common sense says this is a bad idea and I'm gonna get hurt. The thrill is getting to the end alive.

I like to ride in the front car. On Intimidator there is a moment where you are looking down but still going slow. In that moment I always think "this is a bad idea", but it's too late to stop.

I would not step foot on a roller coaster until I was with a group of friends and I didn't want to look scared (peer pressure works on me  ). Timmy was my first coaster and now I've ridden it almost 300 times. I've never been to another park so I can not wait to ride fury and feel the rush going down the first drop. I've become quite the adrenaline junkie.

Looks like the gray support angles have been removed! Photo courtesy of WSOC.

Maybe... If anything, that bucket lift means they might be working on it, lol.

On the discussion of attendance, I think Fury is going to help increase attendance this year. However, I think the biggest factor is Harmony Hall, the new food that they are bringing to the park, and the new shows. If they market that aspect well, they should appeal to a broader spectrum of people and really impact the long term growth of revenue from the park.

I have a lot of friends who have never gone to Carowinds and even when I tell them about Fury they don't care. However, when I start mentioning the food changes under Chef Kris, they are a lot more interested in checking out the park.

My heart races when I drive into the parking lot of KI or Carowinds or CP - the ONLY thing on my mind is the big roller coasters! Food (at least for me) is the last thing on my mind honestly.....But then you get hungry and thirsty while you're there and you start wanting good food, but the food isn't what motivates me to go...But, that's just me. Everyone is different

That's me exactly, also. I am only there for the rides. I don't care about the shows, games, or other stuff. Even with a season pass, I won't set foot in the water park section. The food is just something to stuff in my face because my belly is compelling me to do so, not because sticking food in my face is fun.

But I find it interesting how many of you say you have fear of riding Fury (or other coasters). I've never understood what others are afraid of, not even as a young kid. Roller coasters have always just been plain fun, never scary to me. Is it the speed? Is it the height? Is it going fast without being enclosed in a cage? Is it fear you'll fly out of the train? Is it fear that the ride will malfunction? Is it the sound? Is it the people screaming? I suppose different folks might have different reasons. I'd like to hear them. What is it about riding Fury (or other coasters) that causes you to have fear?

My ONLY coaster fear that I can remember was the first drop! Loops didn't bother me at all. I think in my mind I was afraid I wouldn't survive the first drop. I remember I was scared to ride Carolina Cyclone because of it's first drop (If you can freaking believe that), yet I had no problem riding White Lightnin' and I wouldn't be caught dead on Thunder Road because of the first drop. My fear didn't last long though. I know some people fear what the ride is doing to their body (heart/ blood pressure, etc), a LOT of people do NOT trust a ride that goes upside down and a lot are afraid the coaster will come off the track....

I have 2 coaster fears...first, boomerang coasters freak me out. Something about seeing the end of the track just makes me nervous. I'll still ride them, but I really don't love them.

Second, I'm terrified of heights, so the lift hill on Fury is going to be anxiety-producing for me. I remember my first time on Mamba at WOF...it had a 60 second lift hill, so I was really nervous on the climb. But the rest of the ride made it worth it. I'm sure the same will hold true for Fury.

^ Yeah, my first "big" coaster was Carolina Cyclone, and really the only thing I was scared of was the feeling in your stomach that you get when you drop... Now I LOVE that feeling in my stomach when you drop! :D If you are to scared to ride Fury.... well then I guess you won't be able to say "I have ridden the world's Tallest, Fastest, Non-launched roller coaster"!

Speaking of Fury... The bridge support beams are finally going in. I'm guessing once that is finished, testing will begin shortly if all of the wiring and electrical is complete.

^^ I'm still gonna ride Fury. I'll just be anxious on the lift hill. It'll be worth it, I'm sure!

I guess my fear of heights is why I like launched coasters so much...you get shot up through the lift hill quickly...no time for stressing about the height!

I can't wait to see Fury 325 being tested. Of course, those special lighting effects in the tunnel that Mike mentioned at WWU will make the ride even special. I really like how Cedar Fair is putting on lighting effects on their newest B&Ms. They truly make a ride event more special. Plus, the honeycomb structures in the queue lines in my opinion count as theming!

You should try an impulse coaster in the front seat! And they're actually fun too, unlike the boomerangs...
