Wow. Fury is really getting some great themeing. Honeycombs are above the queue, on the gates, under the bridge, around the ends where the track departs and returns into the station, etc.

I hope they add some kind of buzzing sound effect under the bridge when you go through the honeycombs, that would be really cool, IMO. And add a Banshee-like scream moment.

I think the planters look great lining both sides of the plaza, can't wait to see what it looks like when all is said and done.

Wasps (which hornets are a variety of) DO make wax paper combs but they don't produce enough honey to collect. Bees make the back to back honeycombs we're used to seeing in the boxes and make the honey we collect to eat.

I hope the yellow behind the honeycomb gates is metal mesh or something else durable. It looks like fabric at the moment, which won't last past opening day, lol.

It's amazing how fast things get done today. The construction site is so massive. The coaster is completely built...and other things are moving along rapidly. It got me thinking, I wonder how long a project identical to this would have taken, say, in the 1970s or 1980s?

I'm guessing faster since OSHA regulations weren't really a big deal then, lol.

If it is indeed fabric, you're right, it will be riddled with holes within hours of opening. some plexiglass would fix that though.

Problem with plexiglass is that it would get scraped and scratched up pretty quickly and end up looking bad as well.

Am I the only one who has been calling them hexagons instead of honeycombs?

No, they are a hexagon, but since we're in this hornet theme sorta thing, we've going for honeycomb. I prefer the hexagon term since a hornet isn't a honeybee, but alas... tomato/tomatoe.

Looking close enough I noticed you could see through it, so i'm guessing its mesh. I doubt Carowinds would put fabric in such a high-traffic area, but they've proven me wrong before.
