General Carowinds discussion

Has anyone noticed any test runs today? I pop over occasionally and check out the live feed, but haven't seen anything....of course, Fury is so fast that if you aren't looking just as it crests the hill, you are going to miss it.

As far as someone riding it, couldn't they get in serious trouble if a person rides it this early? Perhaps not, but I'm not a coaster inspection expert so i have no clue. HAHA.

If the first two test runs were yesterday, it's extremely unlikely any human has ridden the ride yet.

Right now, the ride is still in the hands of the manufacturer. Typically there's an 'approved riders' list that gets bigger as more essential testing is carried out. In the early stages, only the engineers/those commissioning the ride would be allowed on. Then, as testing progresses, select personnel from Cedar Fair would be added to the list. Once the test and adjust period is completed and the ride receives its final approval and is handed over to the park, anyone can ride. This is typically when the park employees will ride for the first time. Then its on to media day and grand opening.

Of course, the above may not be exactly how Carowinds will handle it, but it's how other parks have handled it in my experience.

I'm kinda curious myself to see it.

I'm curious to see it too. I have ridden Leviathan before, and lift hill took some time. Long enough for second train to get sent out of the station AS SOON first train crested the lift. But long climb doesn't bother me really... from what I have seen in Fury's POV, they seem to be running at same speed.

:D Yup! Probably not something that I would ride personally, but it sure looks nice in the park skyline.

Not as big as I would have thought but here is a view from the drop off lot.

Also it's kinda quiet today so idk if they will test but it's not raining here at the moment.

Verbolten takes on-ride videos that you can purchase. There are cameras mounted to the back of the seats. Besides that, I'm not aware of very many that do it.

"Sigh" I guess I'd better get used to this.

Did you see the USA TODAY release today along with the POV video? Buzz-60 - "Carowinds releases amazing footage of their new giga coaster 'The Fury'". It could be me but "THE Fury" doesn't sit well.

Of course, it could be in Carowinds' plans to remove the 325 down the line and change the name to "THE Fury".

"The Fury" and "Fury" are both proper English. As for not saying "325", I doubt Carowinds will shorten the official name. Is refering to Cyclone as "Cyclone" rather than "Carolina Cyclone" any different?
Does anyone know if any park has a trademark on the name "Fury" like Carowinds had "Fury 325" trademarked?
