And that's before any Six Flags parks announce any. I'm excited. I hope they just get GCI to come in and finish our Hurler and put MF trains on it and gives us a custom RMC Woody.

GCI can still save it. Back when it was partially retracked a few years ago, it was Carowinds Maintenance workers who done the retracking. However, GCI did have a small part in it.

I absolutely love what GCI did to ghostrider. I would welcome them to finish what they, not Carowinds maintenance, started on hurler.

I'd love to see GCI retrack it too, but I just don't think it would yield the return on investment that Ghostrider did. Millennium Flyers aren't exactly cheap, and neither is a complete retracking.

With that being said, I'd love to have a GCI at some point in the future.

What a novel idea. Kennywood is adding a new wooden coaster and not removing any rides...

I am happy to see the progress with Mean Streak and that they didn't decide to just remove it. I am curious to see what happens with Hurler as I suspect it will not be the same ride it is now in five years. Either that or it will be gone.

With KD's hurler getting an overhaul/transformation, I think the likelihood that Carowinds will do the same is really high. If they were going to continue to re-build hurler after 2014, they would've kept on going. They still had to add the trim back to the bottom of the drop even after the re-profiling work, which really kills the ride. I think its time for something different. I think cedar fair has officially got on the RMC band wagon and we will see most of their woodies get converted... Just wish T-Road woulda been the first, but that is what it is. Hopefully we will see something done to ours!

How about $100M just for a climbing wall (and skydiving chamber) !! 43 meters (141') tall.

It will be near Ferrari World...

The island with all its attractions is predicted to host 48 million visits per year by 2022 !! They definitely do things in a big way in Abu Dhabi !!

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk petitioning to add two new rides

http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Santa-Cruz-Beach-Boardwalk-two-new-rides-9983930.php#photo-11497629

The skyline of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will be changing if amusement park officials have their plans approved.

The amusement park is trying to add two new rides to the boardwalk, one called Shockwave and another called Typhoon. Their plan goes in front of the Santa Cruz City Council on Thursday.

The two rides are quite visually striking, clocking in at 65 feet tall for Shockwave and 60 feet for Typhoon. For comparison, the Giant Dipper is 70 feet tall.

Typhoon may be a familiar concept to boardwalk aficionados. Santa Cruz had a previous version of the ride (also called Typhoon) that was removed in 2009. The ride, a midway classic, has two arms that swing riders around in a loop.

Shockwave, which would be built on top of a new gaming and retail space, will spin up to 24 riders around in circles on a track.
