I still think it will be a wooden coaster because 1. The last time cedar fair worked with intamin (the most likely company to make a launch coaster) was in 2010, and the last time cedar fair made a launch coaster was pony express in 2008. 2. Your 3 examples (volcano, flight of fear, and black lot) are really old.

Gerstlauer and B&M make launches, both of which Cedar Fair have worked with recently. Then there’s Premier, S&S, and Mack.

I took a trip to Virginia this summer and went to BGW and Kings Dominion. After riding their coasters I think Carowinds is lacking in two categories and its obvious to everyone (Wooden and Launch). I liked InvadR and Grizzly and when I went to Dollywood the other year I liked the wooden coaster (Can't remember the name) there. However, I LOVE launch coasters and think they stand out and are more memorable than wooden coasters (Just my opinion). So when/if Carowinds gets a launch; which type of launch would you want. I REALLY liked Verbolten but I seriously doubt Carowinds would get one like that. Since Kings Dominion is also owned by Cedar fair do you think they will give Carowinds a launch like one of the ones there? Unfortunately I didn't get to ride Volcano because it was down the whole day! I have heard it's down a lot so maybe that wouldn't be a good one. I really liked Flight of Fear and Backlot Stunt Coaster. So how possible is it that carowinds would get one of these and would you want one like these, or would you want another type of launch?

Um NOPE!!! Those said coasters were installed during the Paramount days. Cedar Fair obviously is somewhat separating each park from having identical rides outside of the DINOs and Windseekers, they’re pushing to bring back each park’s own identity and character. I don’t see nor want a spaghetti bowl launch or back lot stunt coaster at Carowinds, though we were suppose to get them but Paramount opted for Kings Dominion. I see maybe a Mack launched looper or Intamin Maverick style type coaster but that’s reaching.

To me, if you've ridden a launch somewhere else, you didn't miss much with Volcano. To me it's half a ride. The first half is awesome with the initial launch / turn / final launch and being ejected straight up through the Volcano. Again, that's pretty awesome. After that, I think the designers took the day off. Once out of the volcano, its one of the most boring coasters I've been on. .. unless you're just a super fan of heart-line rolls.

I worded it poorly. I didn't mean clones of those coasters. I really meant would you want an indoor launch like Flight of Fear or a launch like Backlot Stunt Coaster with effects. I would prefer one like Verbolten but don't see it happening. I didn't get to ride Lightening Rod when I was at Dollywood. Hopefully I get to ride it when I go this year. How likely do you think we could get a Lightning Rod type coaster?

0%. That ride is closed more than it's open, a complete maintenance and reliability nightmare.

If you mean by having a wooden coaster built into the terrain that travels through the woods, then very unlikely as its nearly impossible. But if you mean a launched wooden coaster then its very likely, as anything else mentioned here for 2019. How many times have cedar fair been back to mondial after the windseeker fiascos? Besides, RMC didn't design, build or installed the launch.

If only they had just gone with a different company to fabricate that launch

I can’t believe there has been this many pages about what is coming next when it’s obviously Hurler getting RMCed.

Seems like they're starting to figure out the problems on Lightning Rod. Was there for two days around Thanksgiving and it only broke down once or twice for just a couple minutes.
