^ That's not a response to your post. I've just been holding on to that gif for a while now and I finally got an opportunity to use it!

CCookieMonster wrote:I KNOW RIGHT! I've been disappointed so many times in life because of hyping something up too much, so I just hope all this hype is for a real big "hype-worthy" coaster/project. I said "/project" because we know 1 coaster isn't gonna cut it with this expansion. Probably a new restaurant or two, or a refurbishment of the crossroads area will be more... of an "expansion" if you will for the 2019 season. But, I'm not THAT experience, as you know because I need help trying to insert a photo into this. And plus can someone tell em how to do that? I'm sorry I just wanna be able to post pics.

SafetySam wrote:I know just wishful thinking.....at this point I'm just throwing anything out there. I just hope that all this hype isnt for nothing.....

"All the hype." lmao

Honestly, the only ones overhyping this coaster are a couple members of this forum.

And it's not members like coasterbruh or barbwire... it's the ones who want to throw out crazy, unrealistic guesses like "a launched 4-D free-spinning hybrid wing giga coaster that goes OVER Afterburn and UNDER the parking lot!"

That doesn't mean it isn't going to be a blast though. Just sit back, relax, enjoy the speculation, and try to resolve yourself to the fact that whatever it ends up being, you're going to love it. I mean it's a freakin' rollercoaster! It's hard not to love a rollercoaster.

I think Takabisha's a different case though, since Japan is very earthquake-prone. Steel Dragon 2000 cost $50 million to build and that was in 1999 money. A Gerstlauer here would be moderately priced at least compared to, say, a B&M. For example, Karacho at Tripsdill cost around $8.5 million USD which in today's money would be a little over $9 million today.

Well said, redrunner97. I was thinking the same thing.

All we really know is that there is a large work area, approximately 5 acres (thanks tarheel1231!), and it is probably going to be a new coaster. Based on the area, it looks like it will be a good-sized coaster. What's not to be excited about?

I'm hyped because we're apparently getting a new coaster. While I have some preferences, I'm sure it's going to be fun and exciting.

I feel like there is a fine divide in the Carowinds Coaster line up between Awesome and Mediocre, Hopefully this Coaster will fill that gap.

I can't take credit for the 5 acre thing, lingerdog was the one who provided a definitive answer.

lingerdog wrote:The property across the street is going to be a warehouse. It's part of the lakemont business park. No relation to Carowinds other than proximity.

As for the work at carowinds, there are two stormwater permits on the SC side.

One is for 2018 flyers relocation and listed as a 1 acre job.

The other is for 2019 project alpha which is listed as a 5 acre job.Screenshot_20180405-234335_Chrome.jpg

Honestly I'd rather phase out the mediocre coasters than build coasters to fill in the gap. That just means you're building something slightly better than a boomerang but not as good as Fury, Afterburn, or Intimidator.

Justin wrote:If it helps anyone to figure out the manufacturer, the new coaster will have an inversion coming straight out of the station before it turns to the launch pad. I seen another launch coaster do the same exact thing but I can not remember the name of that coaster.

Also, the trains will hold 16 people at a time. 4 people per car, 4 cars per train kind of deal.

Woah that's interesting. Similar to Karacho at Tripsdrill?

Just wondering, where did you find this info?

Nothing is confirmed until it's confirmed (dot dot dot) by the park.

Anyone can type a post claiming to know anything, that doesn't mean we should necessarily believe it.

You know, in the general public for all they know it could be a new section of the park being developed. Who is to say it isn’t another area like the new county fair turned out to be. As this is my home park, yes I worked there for seven and 1/2 seasons I am excited to see any and all investment. I also love the element of surprise, before the internet it was incredible to see reactions to the new and improved areas.

coasterbruh wrote:I think, as it has been mentioned, did to the shorter off season they have to do what they can over a stretch of time. Also, this is the first "in park" coaster since Cobra and that was like 10 years ago. I think we won't start seeing track show up until after it's announced but we should still see some heavy construction during winterfest but generally during the week.

Thats actually going to be quite interesting to be in the park while the coaster is being constructed. Should make for some great pics.

Should we be expecting that little section of the park where Thunder Road used to be to get a new name and/or theme with this upcoming coaster? I sure hope so.

Crossroads is so big and poorly defined, IMO. "CROSSROADS" should be the area where Windseeker, the arcade, and Nighthawk is located because it's the center of the park.

Afterburn, Boo Blasters, Dinos, etc. should be it's own area too. Maybe something like "MIDWAY SQUARE" because it literally looks like a town square.

As for Dodgems, Southern Star, and PVZ, maybe something like "ADVENTURE OUTPOST," to mash up a couple different names from the park's past. It's generic but also distinct.

I still think 'Lowcountry' would be a great fit for that stretch of the park between County Fair and Afterburn, and 'Palmetto Pier' would be a great theme for the old County Fair. I know we already have a boardwalk section but the only part of it that really feels like a boardwalk is the area in front of Chickie's and Pete's. The rest of it just feels out of place.
