Who didn't see this coming?

Edit: Now they are saying there aren't any trims, but they are running one train with a slow lift hill. Employees have no comment when asked about it.

I was just reading on KDfansite about this, I didnt even know they added something to the drop, all they said was its a small long bar with no fins.... I KNEW they would do something... and if they slowed the lift speed, they must have read my suggestion lol, thats what I said they should do all along... I wonder how much this affects the ride? Has anyone went since they made the change, I guess the change was made yesterday or something? Damn now I cant ride this thing at full force... bummer. Couldnt they just take one of the cars off the train, wouldnt that slow it down...

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K...er, Kings Dominion.

Went on KD Fansite to check on the latest uproar on the trim that doesn't really seem to be there (yet), and saw something interesting. They've changed the restraints on the test seat from the OTSR to what looks like a softer strap that connects to the lapbar, which is what many of us thought they were describing when the ride was announced. The guy who took the pic said he was told this wasn't going on the ride.

Why have a restraint on the test seat that doesn't match what's on the actual ride, especially after having one that did match? There may be hope on the OTSR issue after all.

Opinions are still mixed on the possibility of a trim in the future, although it seems the initial report from the guy saying the ride was "ruined" by a trim were way off base. Many have said it's no different, and there isn't a trim in place as of now. However, it does look like there is some kind of new hardware on the first drop, which could be the beginnings of a trim brake installation.

The problem with the ride right now which could lead to the installation of a trim is that it's eating the wheels, probably due to the speed and forces in the first turn. This has lead to KD running one train whenever possible to cut down on wheel replacement.

Why do I have this odd feeling they'll replace the restraints with what looks to be a far more comfortable solution right about the time they neuter the ride with a first-drop trim to save on maintenance costs?

Yea, i read a lot of things on KD fansite. From what people are saying they lowered the lift speed (which was my suggestion anyway) and that there is a copper piece on the drop or something, possibly for a trim. I didnt see anything about the restraints so maybe that is what they are doing, changing restraints and slowing the ride down? Not sure. That really sucks that they have to run 1 train because of problems with the wheels, I wonder what is going on with that.

^Millennium Force had similar wheel troubles its first year before they were able to figure out the right type of wheel for the ride. My guess is it's going to take some trial and error before they settle on the right wheels for I305. That ride has some of the most ridiculous forces I've ever experienced on a ride, and it's gotta be hell on those wheels. I'm sure they'll get it figured out eventually like they did with MF.

Do you honestly think the folks at kings dominion slowed down the lift just because you suggested it...

I rode it Saturday 3 times and the only time the lift hill was slowed down was when they added silver train back on to the ride. It's test run would be slower up the lift.

Every time though the ride does slow before the drop off the lift. But from what a friend told me that rode it media day, that's the way it has always run.

For what it's worth, I really liked the ride but prefer our Intimidator over it.

Wes, what friend was there on Media Day that said it slowed down before the drop? It never slowed down on the train I was in (and they were only running one train)! Jordan was there as well and will confirm this.

And now it's confirmed.

First drop is trimmed most of the way down on the right side. Reports are that it kills the first drop and aitime hill, but the rest of the ride is bearable now.

Wow, that is nuts! I really wish I was able to go ride it before that happend, oh well. I want to see a picture of it now. I wonder what the top speed is now..... Crazy that this thing was SO intense they had to trim the drop, but at least they have the technology to do that and not have to rip it down...
