I am looking forward to my visit on October 26 to the park and am looking forward to how much of the ride has been constructed. I will have some photos from my visit available and am looking forward to sharing with the many other outlets I am partners with. It was also nice to meet many of the Carowinds Connection fans at the announcement, I never knew how many people wanted to shake my hand, it was a very busy day keeping up with everything going on

Is it just me or dose the construction area look like it has been at a stand still since the brake run supports went in. Could they possibly be working on the north gate entrance since it is now shut down for the season?

I would expect several crews would be working on different parts of the project. One crew will doing the demolition of the front gate, another doing excavation, another doing footers while another group is erecting the coaster. The project would never get done if the same 5 guys were doing everything.

Capler, I was hoping and thinking the same thing but just looks a little dead on site with not much going on; I mean the past 2 days have been great weather so you think that they would be able to get a lot done. Just ready to see some lift supports going in that's all.

This may be a little meaningless to some but I am going to share it anyway. Since the announcment of Fury 325 I have looked at the pics and every video that I can find of this coaster and while they do a good job in portaying the size of this coaster I did not really grasp how big this is going to be until I started comparing it to the other rides in the park. All of the following stats are based on the numbers over at RCDB.com( great job guys). I hope everyone understands what I am saying.

Fury 325 = 325 ft

Intimidator + Thunder Road = 325 ft

Hurler x 4 = 332 ft

After Burn x 3 = 339 ft

Vortex x 3 = 270 ft

Carolina Cyclone x 3 = 285 ft

In other words pictures are not going to do this justice; it's going to be like in 2010 when we went a saw Intimidator for the fist time and you get neck cramps from looking up at this thing.

If you go back and read the minutes from the meeting with Charlotte City Council from over a year ago, Kings Dominion's name is indeed brought up. But this could have been a ploy to get Charlotte to agree when it looks like there was some "competition" involved, when there may have not been. Cedar Fair may have spent the $50 million with or without Charlotte's help. It's impossible to know.

Ms. Mayfield said Peter going back to what you just said just for clarification’s sake. So what you’re saying is for this new ride, they’re looking at either Kings Dominion or Carowinds. So they are looking to see which one of the two would have the newest ... and the newest expansion that is being considered. So they are looking to see which one they are going to choose between Kings Dominion and Carowinds.

Mr. Zeiler said yes they would like to grow either Kings Dominion or Carowinds to be their next major park to take it to the same level that their four other parks are at the three million and above attendance. They won’t make the investment in both parks. There is not enough room in the market for that so they are looking to see whether it makes sense to do it in Charlotte or makes sense to do that in Richmond. There are good reasons for both parks.

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners will vote today on its share of a nearly $1 million in public subsidies to support Carowinds’ planned $43.5 million expansion.

Last night, Charlotte City Council approved in a 7-4 vote to pay the park’s owners $377,952 over three years as an incentive to expand. Mecklenburg County has been asked to kick in $594,516 over the same time.

County documents about the incentives provide more details about the amusement park’s plans. While Carowinds straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina line, the expansion is largely planned within city (and thus county) limits. The first phase of the expansion includes a $30 million roller coaster, a $2.5 million water slide, a $7 million food complex and about $4 million for upgrades to ticket booths and frontage areas.
