I also don't see how a roller coaster can fit in that area. Now if CArowinds owns the plot of woods behind Hurler and Cyclone, then we could have a very decent hyper coaster. but i can only see a station fitting in were the log flume is....

Log Flume takes up a large footprint. I came up with an idea that ya'll will love, I think. Anyone remember the little area near Rapids entry that isn't used anymore? The hyper's station could be placed there along with the final brakes, go under the bridge and to the lift. Carowinds could even use the old train station for the hyper's queue line.

there is more than enough room for any kind of large addition around the log flume's footprint... heck, there is probably 3 times enough room for a hyper coaster.... there is unused land around the paladium, vacant land around the kids rides next to the flume, there is the picnic area, there is land between the picnic area and the main entrance, and there are several acres of vacant land between the parking lot and the interstate that Carowinds owns... land availability is certainly not the problem here. Very large coasters have been squeezed into far less land at other parks.

here is a map of the area... its pretty obvious that whatever takes the flume's place in 2010 will have more than enough room.

A bid addition to the park can fit in that area, especially if they take out the picnic and storage buildings. I bet though, we will have the shortest hyper coaster ever built!

honestly... if it came to a Jr. hyper, a non-hyper B&M , or large GCI... the Jr. hyper would be last on my list

A large GCI would be #1 on my list for sure! I really want a huge hyper to grace the land of Carowinds, but a real since GCI would be awesome all the same! But we really need a hyper. How about Carowinds builds a nice big 'ol hyper, tear down hurler, and put in a GCI...wow!!! ALL DREAMS THOUGH

There is only about 40 to 50 yards past hurler that carowinds owns until the road.

yep... there's hardly any land for building on that side of the park.... but anything from the flume to the highway is fair game...Carowinds owns all of that land.

The thing about a hyper...it can just go about anywhere. Even the parking lot...

exactly... its not like a compact looping coaster that needs cleared land to build on.. its like a rope across the park- far more freedom in regard to the location of the footers..

Personally, I don't believe CF would put anything smaller than the 230' hyper design used at Wonderland and KI in our park. That is probably what any multi-coaster contract with B & M would reflect, if we truly knew it. Additionally, CF knows they need only beat 205' to be the tallest south of GA and 230' would match Nitro! If they could only tag on another 5' and make it 235'. Hah! The only other park with any possibility of doing this would be BGA in Tampa. However, that is highly questionable with supposed height limitations and future ownership in the balance ~ it will be years before anything happens there, unless the family holds on to the parks ~ then it would still be at least three years... but it wouldn't surprise me if Busch hasn't had some kind of long term deal with B & M as well...Sheikra, Griffon, Manta, questionable cancellation at SW San Diego... who knows. I just know it sure seems to point towards our park getting one in 2010. Wishful thinking, but logic supports something happening...

I can't really see them putting in another wooden coaster as we already have 3, and they are a lot of upkeep.

A floorless or a hyper seem to be the most logical pick by CF.

Now again, let me reinterate before we go crazy with this thread that this is a rumor. I'm just telling you what I've heard. The guy could be telling me junk, but the simple fact that Max heard the same thing about the woods being out of service for SCarowinds after 08 seems to give it some creedence.

I think it would be hillarious if they did build a hyper under the bridge after all.

One thing in our favor too is that Carowinds' GM WANTS a hyper. I heard it from his own lips at C3.

What park GM wouldn't want a hyper?
