This is really a funny post. Do all the markings going down the entire fenced in area not mean anything to you? You can come down and ride our hyper, don't worry.
The land clearing is going well from the pictures Wormy posted. I'm thinking we're about 2 weeks away from maybe seeing concrete trucks start to show up. We could start to see metal show up, but they may even try to hold off and make their big announcement first at Coaster Stock. I'm going to say in about 4 weeks for the metal. June 24-concrete trucks start showing up July 8- start to receive track pieces/supports July 27-new web cam goes live to follow the action so Wormy can take a break!

oh its ok in fact you can come and ride our giga next year too!
I think we could be looking at a giga for KD and hyper for carowinds
kdcoasterfan i got ur back

I'm sorry, but I was reading the KD Fansite and I came across a recent post where someone said there was close to 3 acres of land that was cleared.... correct me if I'm wrong but this isn't even close to enough land for a full-blown giga, is it? :?

This isn't sports where we are competing for a trophy. Living only 6 hours from Carowinds, I would have thought that you would be excited about Carowinds getting something too, because there is a chance you could ride it. Bizarre...

Personally, I would love to see both parks get great new coasters (and clearly that is going to be the case).

I agree with everything in this post. I am ecstatic that KD might be getting a Giga. I'm even more ecstatic that my home park could be getting a hyper. This isn't sports. We're not competing. Why are all the KD fanboys coming over here trying to start stuff? That is baffling.

You got a deal!! I haven't been to KD in a LONG time, I do plan on getting up there next year anyway. You've got a bunch of coasters I haven't gotten to ride yet.

I am happy for both parks. If KD gets a giga, that great for them. as long as we get our hyper coaster, then I have no complaints. oh, and thanks wormy for all the updates on the dirt porn. Thanks for keeping us up to date on whats happening with the construction

I could care less what any other park has. Carowinds is moving in the right direction thats all that matters.

Last time I checked I am a kdfanboy and im deadset on Carowinds getting a hyper(I even said that in my post) I am counting on the Carowinds one to be better than diamondback. And for the post I meant no offense by that so sorry if thats how it came out, just having fun with speculation because ive heard at least 50 different things on what kd is getting.

I misread your post a bit; sorry about that. It was directed toward some others as well, though.

I hope both Carowinds and KD gets something great. Who knows what KD is getting but I would bet money on Carowinds being the new home for a red B&M hyper. I live in NC about 4 hours away from Carowinds and haven't been since I was a kid. I plan on making a trip there sometime this year and defenitly next year for the new B&M.

So hears to my closest parks to get new great rides:
KD 2 hours from my house: Intamin Giga?
BGE 2 hours from my house: B&M Flyer?
Carowinds 4 hours from my house: B&M Hyper?

I wonder if KD could be getting a giga with so little land cleared, but I guess its a little bit earlier on in your construction process. As long as you don't get that red track though, I'd love to see what you will get!

2010 is going to be a HUGE year for the Cedar Fair chain.... the question is, are they going to invest as much as we think they are in these roller coasters?

Cedar Fair Coasters 2010 (rumors):
- Carowinds: large B&M hyper?
- Kings Dominion : Intamin Giga?
- Cedar Point: Last of the 5 proposed Intamins?
- California's Great America: GCI Woodie?

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think they are willing to build all this next year, but I could be wrong... If all this were to be completed for the 2010 season, wouldn't it be the single largest investment from an amusement park chain (on roller coasters alone).... EVER??

I think that the Intamin at cedar point could be an aqua tracks on millenium island(it is on water after all), and CP already confirmed no new rides built this season, so I doubt anything would open soon enough for next year. KD, if they are getting a giga, would have to clear a whole lot more land, then build the enormous thing, so I don't think that opens in 2010. I'm also not sure CGA is getting another coaster, since CF is thinking about selling them along with a couple other parks. But that many projects sounds like a bad thing to me. Look at the economy! Seems a little bit Six Flagsish to me, and we don't want to go down that path.

Its a lot more land than a little, the clearing is going well back into the woods now and with steel prices dropping so I wouldnt be suprised if Cedar Fair built all of that next year

Doubt it.... that would be somewhere in the 50-60 million dollar range. Like I said, that would be the most any chain has spent on roller coasters in one year.

That & supports have started arriving, still no track yet but I'm sure that it should arrive within the next week or two. Carowinds could be looking at a floorless or B&M looper with the lift & station area starting in the parking lot however because if it were a hyper then I think we'd be seeing track or at the very least supports arriving by now.

Why are you always so set on Carowinds not getting the hyper? I don't think KD is getting B&M and that red track is the only thing left that is B&M (the yellow is being shipped overseas presumably) so my vote would go to Carowinds for the red....it's very large and no looping pieces have been identified so I would also guess it's a hyper.

I know that KD isn't getting the B&M hyper, ours will be from intamin based on the style of supports & the amount of land being cleared but if you look at the construction site for the 2010 project it looks like the lift will run perpendicular to the former flume site...meaning that the train would have to curve to the left to enter that section & most hypers feature straight drops off of the lift.
