It honestly looks like they took a 300 ft Giga Coaster and gave it a Mega-Lite layout. It still looks like fun though. I really don't think Cedar Fair's goal was to build a coaster as tall as they could without going over MF in the first place, they just wanted to build a crowd pleaser. Believe me when I say this will be a crowd pleaser if nothing else. Heck, maybe they saved the record to be broken in 6 days.

Probably to get the paramounts parks back on top. I was thinking the same about the layout...

Okay guys I may have to take back my rant from the previous page. From KD Fan Site:

brian talked to dick kinzle and he said it will have lapbars not otsr the animation is wrong.

Hopefully this is true and will be clarified within the coming days. 50-75% of my complaints about the ride are based on the restraints, so that would change my opinion drastically.

I believe the height should correspondingly match the length. I've always given some leeway where the design was as intended but this...just how short is the attention span of the past two generations? I like to enjoy something that isn't over before it's begun.

Jonathan wrote:The layout is absurdly uninspiring. It looks to me like they just wanted the title of a 300' coaster, because once the first drop is over there is pretty much nothing to the ride but boring turns near the ground.

Now THAT...is my sentiment exactly. It's like...they balled up the worst aspects of Maverick & magnified them. Pales in comparison to the course of Millennium Force...oh no, now I'm going into conspiracy theories.

Jonathan wrote:I was extremely excited about this ride, but this may be the most disappointing ride announcement that I have ever seen.

I must admit...it was a surprise!

That's a good question. We'll know the answer for sure in less than a week.

And now for my 2¢:

• This WILL NOT run anywhere close to 3:00... Maybe 1:30 at most.

• It does look like a Giant Mega-Lite... and that's a good thing

• I'm glad it's not Millennium Force 2

• Though the height and speed look great, I'm not sure they really needed to build something
over 300 feet, especially with only 5100 feet of track...
the coaster will burn off about 20mph just with that first curve.

• I knew they wouldn't upstage the Force, what would the point of doing that be anyway.

• $25 Million doesn't get you much Giga for your money these days

• You can see where they saved money at building this in comparison of Millennium Force:
(Less supports, less clearing/landscaping, No separate Unload station,
two 8-car trains as opposed to three 9-car, no tunnels, and no moving of existing rides or buildings)
However... They may have had to pay extra for "Earnhardt" Marketing Rights.

• Since it has a Chevy Logo on the front, does that mean it will break down a lot?

• I like the layout because it will do a lot of low to the ground tricks,
even though it's not much to look at... the renderings won't do the final project justice.
I still don't see the point of building it at over 300, if it's going to stay so low during the rest of the ride."

WOW! Looks pretty sweet from the POV video.... Might have to make a trip to VA next year. I hope our coaster will be as nice, although it wont be as tall....

From lift-hill crest to brakes it's under 40 seconds.

If I remember correctly Millennium Force finishes with a speed of 65 mph so...Intimidator 305 with be over & done with even quicker.

Because it's not good publicity to put all your eggs into one basket?

I'd say it's safe to reason that a large chunk of change of this "investment" went to Dale Earnhardt Inc. & Chevrolet. This, of course, excludes gross from merchandise.

Another taxpayer bailout?

Not much can be justified about how underutilized this attraction will be. I'm certain most of us have envisioned a coaster that emulates stock car racing but, more often than not, that was with a launching mechanism. The lift is nice & all but with the rest of the course overshadowed by that lone hill along with the secluded cul-de-sac locale it's not gonna have the same imposing heaviness like the superstructure of Steel Dragon 2000. It's not even gonna be photogenic friendly to the general public à la Millennium Island at Cedar Point. :?
